Tyson thought Lewis had a glass jaw which was the only reason Tyson took the fight. After a few bombs and Lewis was still standing after the 1st round, Tyson knew he was in for a beatdown since Tyson was no longer a championship fighter.
did u only watch rhe upper half of lewis ? his legs were well gone.

as for suspect chin, its fine imo, he got caught flush by punches he didnt see
coming, at that weight it happens. also i dont think he was anything but
stunned against shannon briggs. alot was made of that hit behind the head.

if his chin IS suspect which heavyweights have a great chin ? cant think
of any who havent been koed except maybe james toney

James Toneys mechanism in the brain isnt working when it tells you should be knocked out and he is paying the price with his slurred speach.

most heavyweights do slur at the end. the price to pay

so is there any other heavyweight who won a genuine world title and hasnt been
koed in the last 10-15 yrs ?

I bet that old Big L could take anyone on here's best shots several times and laugh and then just start bitchslapping everybody.
He couldn't take any shots off me. You know why? Because I've met him and I'd never even attempt to hit that big bastard!

i think the thread should really be about whether those koes prevented him
from being a great. personally id say hes a great because he was such a
dominant force, even after both ko losses, plus hes one of the scariest
heavyweights ive ever seen, only beaten by "ironed" mike tyson IMO.

I thought the same a while ago.
But really, he made up for those 2 KO defeats, avenging both, and beating every man he ever faced. Cant argue with that.

I bet they are all the punches Lewis took in his entire career. He took a few and shows he had a decent chin.

                    I dont agree.
By definition it was a one punch KO.
The punches that landed before did not seem to hurt him. Lewis showed no signs that he was hurt.
When a fighter is hurt he covers up. Lewis was being arrogant, and showing that he wasnt hurt.

i agree, i remember against shannon briggs he got stunned by a shot behind the
head, then later in the fight briggs threw a combo of big shots which lewis just
took, grinned evilly then slammed home his own monster shots, putting briggs
                      down.

hes got a good chin for a heavy.
i think alot of the grief lewis is getting is because he dominated the top division
which is normally an alll american affair, bein british canadian was his downfall
