Atlas is a gent and a true figurehead for the fight game. Tyson threatened to **** his 11 year old niece, to be specific (If you believe Atlas' biography) so holding a gun to his head was pretty much a rational reaction.
Idea for Teddy Atlas...

he's a hypocrite who humiliates his fighters. what was that crap with michael grant?
instead of telling him in the dressing room, he tells him with the cameras on him
"don't be paralyzed by your insecurity. I don't want to see all that doubt in you".
He yaps about the evils in boxing, mismatches on television, but when he manages a fighter, he does the exact same thing and puts his guys in there with overmatched guys who shouldn't be fighting.Comment

Probably nobody remembers that Atalas had a fighter years ago. An American fighter that his commentating partner and the studio commentators asked, "when are we going to see your fighter?" finally Teddy allowed him to be on tv espn and he was in a life and death and got a draw, then he rematched him, his fighter won by outboxing him. What does this mean? Nothing just where is this fighter that Atlas was training and is he still training him? FNF regulars maybe remembers Atlas fighter.Comment

I think the whole point to Atlas's book was to show what a trouble little ****er we was growing up, and how he changed his ways as he got older. I think Teddy knows his ****, and he's not the trainer for everybody. There's a certain percentage of people who respond to his type of motivation, to everybody else it just pisses them off.Comment

I agree. Teddy has gone Hollywood and has lost touch with the homies. Pity. He could have helped, but chose being a celebity instead.Comment

How'bout teddy gets hit with a bat repeatedly in the face to improve his looks.
Or goes to radio.Comment

actually it wasnt when teddy atlas was a troubled kid that he has done these things. cause in his book he talks about punching people -including an unsuspectign writer who teddy sucker punched at a weigh inn or something. he did these things while he was training moorer and i think shannon briggs it said. and he went to don lalondes house with a gun before he changed his mind. so the stuff he talks about a lot of it wasnt all that long ago. hes a loose cannon it seems. punching a reporter when he isnt ready for it doesnt sound like such a brave thing to do , imagine if tyson ever did that? what would atlas say about himComment

I always thought Teddy Atlas was overrated as a trainer and he just comes across as a cold person. There is nothing wrong with a trainer being tough on his fighter but I think it is equally important for the fighter to know that his trainer genuinely cares about him. I've never got a sense that Atlas is a caring person.Comment

Becuz that doesn't happen anymore. Atlas doesn't try to shoot people anymore.atlas is always talking about character and being held accountable and he dogs tyson and calls him a coward. but in his book he talks about sucker punching people, holding a gun to tyson, going to sneak up on lalonde and shooting him but not going through with it and stuff like that. seems like a big hypocrit to me!! he talks down about tyson so often. always saying tyson doesnt have heart and courage. well, if thats true why dont he ask tyson to meet him in the back room alone and see who comes out and who gets carried out? then we could see what teddy is made of. If tyson did the stuff teddy atlas himself has done he would say tyson was a menace and all these bad things so how come atlas doesnt point that high powered perception at himself???Comment
