Anyone ever enjoy watching "ham and eggers" above elite fighters?

Note: If your username is Diego****o, piss off and reply to another thread, you little mouthy ****. I don't give a **** what you think.

On Fridays on SKY they have a special boxing night - "Limey Prick Night" it's called. Basically, a series of bouts with a bunch of guys you've probably never heard of. Guys who don't earn millions, who just get a couple of grand - if that - to beat seven shades of crap out of each other. Guys with something like 12 fights to their name, who fight for titles like "The WXHB local pie shop area champion".

You don't have to worry about how they guys figure as "all time greats", or where they come on the deeply silly "P4P" rankings, cos they've never make either.

But often they'll actually be evenly, competitively matched. They don't have the luck or connections to get safe match-ups, and because they're fighting just to feed themselves, they give their all. Because of this, I'll often go from "who the **** are these two wankers?" to "wow, this is exciting" in a couple of minutes.

I find that while we're sat around waiting for match ups at the top to be made, and fights dropping through, often its these "ham and eggers" that provide the most entertainment. And really, at the end of it all, that's what boxing is all about.

That's the thing man, they might not have refined skills (though not always), but sometimes... I dunno.

I quite like it when you get a prospect who gets beat by a journeyman, too, that's always good for a laugh. I would watch the Fat Yank ham and eggers, too, but I only get to see 'em when they're on the undercard of big bills.

It was good seeing Woolcombe lose to Facey. Great example of a prospect losing to a skilled journeyman.

Agree with you Robo. Plus some of these tomato cans are evenly matched up, so tjey turn out to be pretty good scraps. Hot Topic is right...any of the spanish broadcast fights will have fights like these and I think they usually turn out pretty good.

Can't help but think that Facey is a little better than a journeyman myself. I see him more as a decent British level contender. On the world stage then yes of course, little more than a journeyman, but then he's not trying to make himself out to be a world beater is he?

I'll never forget the heart he showed against Jamie Moore, and I was cheering for him against Woolcombe and was glad he won.
