In his first 3 defences Clinton Woods has fought Gonzalez and Johnson. Adamek looks like someone willing to face a challenge too, with Briggs and Dawson.

I guess it's partly the promoter's fault though. Keeps on promising quality opposition for Zsolt Erdei and keeps on failing to deliver. Erdei's promoter makes Frank Warren look like a risk taking promoter....
i wasnt trying to trash calzaghe or anything, just thought it was a relavent comparison.... i agree calzaghe defenses were somewhat tougher but none of the names you listed have any real claim to world class success

i think erdei is just screwed being a champ in a division where guys like antonio tarver and roy jones can make more money than him without even having a belt.. erdei just doesent have anything to offer those guys, the WBO belt is just a trinket... i think his only chance to breakout would be to unify with adamek/dawson winner at some point.... he would then be in position to bargain for a fight with hopkins, taver, jones etc....

maybe calzaghe would move up and fight erdei for his belt as an entrance to the 175 division and set up a mega fight for himself..... who knows..?

I don't see Frank Warren and Universum being able to negotiate a fight. Universum would want the fight in Germany with bribed officials and various strange clauses in the contract and Frank Warren would want promotional options on Erdei and the fight in Cardiff.

As for world class success? Reid and Woodhall were WBC champions, so had some level of success. Starie and Reid were both robbed against Ottke. Starie beat a young Clinton Woods as well. Sheika was hyped in the US for some strange reason.

Erdei will probably get a fight against Stipe Drews/Silvio Branco for the WBA title. Seems to be in the works. Not exactly the most taxing unification, but gets him a bit more credibility to add to his WBO and linear titles.
