and it keeps crashing out anyway so i've given up on ripping it. not a bad fight though although i don't think either would live with clinton woods / johnson or any of the top 5 lhw's...

awesome news, i am hungarian myself and always hoping to see zolt do well.... i think a roy jones fight sounds like a great idea

he won the title from julio caesar gonzalez, who had previously defeated both glen johnson and darius michalczewski, so i think he should get some credit for that... he also did it more impressively than clinton woods who was able to beat gonzo a year later...

he has also twice defeated hugo hernan garay who is a very solid fighter... i did not see the fights myself and i hear the decisions were questionable but the fact remains he has the wins on his ledger...

his last couple defenses were bullcrap though and i do wonder if he will ever make a big time fight....

for the sake of comparison.. erdei has defended his WBO title 7 times

at the point that calzaghe had defended his WBO title 7 times.... he followed up with these name opponents.... richie woodall, mario veit, charles brewer and will mcintyre....

i doubt erdei can do any worse than that... nor should he be held to a higher standard than a guy considered a top p4p fighter

In his first seven defences Calzaghe faced Reid, Sheika, Woodhall and Starie. Certainly better opposition than Erdei's first seven defences. Erdei has skills but really needs to fight people better than Murdoch, Ulrich and Santiago.

In his first 3 defences Clinton Woods has fought Gonzalez and Johnson. Adamek looks like someone willing to face a challenge too, with Briggs and Dawson.

I guess it's partly the promoter's fault though. Keeps on promising quality opposition for Zsolt Erdei and keeps on failing to deliver. Erdei's promoter makes Frank Warren look like a risk taking promoter....
