If you were brand new to the sport, would you find it appealing?

I think a lot of us are hangers on to the good times, hoping it will get better. But there are just a handful of boxers I really like at present (Pacquaio, Barrera, The Blow...) and for the most part I'm sticking with it having watched the sport on and off for over 20 years.

But if you were just getting into boxing now, what would attract you to the sport? Politics is strangling it, from world level all the way down to domestic. Answer me this - how many times since this forum has been in operation has an important boxing match taken place? Two come to mind... The Paler vs. the linear 140 champ, Costa Zoo and Floyd vs. Baldomir, the welterweight champ. (which is a bit of joke anyway, given that Baldy was a limited pro who'd outpointed an overrated Zab Judah. Come on, anyone who's most famous for doing a teapot dance is overrated.) I'm sure there are more, but none come to mind. Lennox Lewis retired four years ago now and there hasn't been ONE unification bout since. Not ONE.

I'm often accused on here of not liking US boxers, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I just haven't liked many (Toney excepted) since I've been posted on here. You look at someone like Taylor and he would have been ****d by truly great US middleweights of the past. And the No.1 P4P exponent (and how seriously is P4P being taken these days anyway??) is a charmless ****.

But it's really the match ups that never happen that make it so tedious. FOUR YEARS without a single heavyweight match-up. And this forum has been debating The Paler vs. Floyd for God knows how many months/years now, and it still hasn't got any nearer to taking place.

You need to just accept how great Mayweather is or get over it. All this "p4p is so subjective" talk is bull****. You know damn well every credible boxing source, expert, magazine, site, etc in the world has him at #1. Deal with it or find a sport where your boys are the cream of the crop.

You try so hard to shrug Mayweather off like he won't go down in history as one of the greatest ever, but it's going to happen if he keeps winning. If the Red Sox won the World Series every year in baseball, I'd stop watching. Just so you know, you don't have to watch.

LOL, as always, totally off topic and based on no logic at all.

HOW does your abusive reply correspond in ANY WAY to what I've said?

LOL, I've searched my post above for a reference to this, and I can't find ONE. If you're responding to something I've said elsewhere, I suggest you go and find that thread rather than spamming this with off topic bull****.

And WHO are "my boys"? You're the bigot, not me pal.

Christ, what a ****ing wanker. STOP FLAMING, PENIS.

I'm trying to have a conversation with an INTELLIGENT ADULT, not a mindless child. Considering that this thread has really **** ALL to do with Floyd, I suggest you take your rant elsewhere. Seriously... just **** off and leave me alone, little bigot prick.

And don't reply with " " or saying you've "hurt my feelings". Just **** OFF. You're a moron.

to be honest..although i liked boxing when i was growing up (bruno, benn, eubank etc) and then into early adulthood (hamed) i was only a causal fan in those days.

i then went through a period of around 8 years where i watched little to no western boxing and have only just rediscovered it in the last 2 years and its only just overtaken football as my favourite sport.
