mesi... lindberger.... collide????? lol
more like mesi and linberger bump into each other gently
i think mesi has realized that hes not gonna get back to where he was and hes just gonna try to make a run for a couple bucks here before its too late -
I take it Mesi isn't on a comeback anymore, that he's only going to fight club fighters on an infrequent basis?Comment

I think that Mesi is still on the comeback trail but is taking "baby steps(pun intended)" in doing so. Last year, all of Mesi's opponents were of the "Shannon Briggs" brand and his fights were only limited to 4-8 rounda's.
In this fight against little known about George Linberger,(sounds like one Muhammad Ali's opponents) the scheduled bout will be 10 rounds; a step up in rounds but not necessarily competition. From here, if the results are favorable to Mesi, expect to see him step up his level of competition.
All-in-all, I'm looking forward to seeing how Mesi looks since his last televised fight on FNF last summer. In that fight he looked very Rusty and tenative.Comment

Anyone here interested as I am in Joe Mesi's comeback and this fight specifically? I'm glad he's back on tv and hope that he shows 'mucho improvimente' from his last televised fight on ESPN last year.Comment

obviously the fact that youve posted two of the 4 replies in this thread shows that you are one of a select few actually interested in mesi's comeback, no offense meant by that..... follow who you want to follow, mesi is at least as worthy of your time as a guy like hasim rahman or audley harrison....
but....
you mentioned shannon briggs type comp---- these guys mesi are fighting are at least a step or two below the bums that briggs fought...
if you put mesi in with old ass ray mercer right now he would be leaving the arena in an ambulance....
i understand mesi's mindset however, and i feel for him.... imagine being one fight away from your lifelong goal and have to suffer such a setback.. how can you expect a guy who has never lost to just walk away without giving it that last shot..... i mean its the wrong decision, its obvious when he fights, i think he knows its the wrong decision.... but he just cant live with himself if he doesent tryComment

I also sensed some of that 'indecision' when I saw him fight last summer on FNF's and thought he looked very tentative and unsure of himself. I'm interested in how good or bad he looks in his next fight, which is a ten rounda, then decide whether I think he should continue to fight or not. But right now and not ready to give up on Mesi.
sooner or later he will get a shot at some money if he keeps it up, i would like to see him do well but i dont think he can ever get back to the fighter he once wasComment

I just can't understand why he is fighting club fighters in 4-round fights for a year and then moves on to ... more club fighters. I understand that he was severely punished and knocked down twice in his fight with Jirov but it's been a long time since then, if he didn't get over it until now, I don't think he ever will.Comment
