Barrera was supposed to be the BEST style matchup for Nas, aggressive, come forward slugger.

Just so happens Marco decided to flip the script.

Its a shame he didnt come back quickly after the Barrera loss. A fight with Jonny Tapia was on the cards but never materialised. Still, he was entertaining whilst he was around...

He did come back, but he laboured to victory over Manuel Calvo. Naz made a mistake appointing Oscar Saurez as coach IMO. The idea was to progress when he left Brendan Ingle, but Saurez was pretty much unknown at that point and IMO, he wasn't a step up from Brendan Ingle, but of course, Hamed also appointed Manny Steward. You'd have thought the appointment of Manny Steward would have helped Hamed progress, but Steward only played bit-parts in the preparation of Hamed, and IMO the dual-coach role of Steward and Saurez surely caused some confusion, and simply didn't work.

Naz was one of my favorite fighters. After 9/11 he never came back to boxing. Don't know if his religion has anything to do with it but wouldn't mind seeing him give it another try.

Sorry, I knew that don't know why I didn't put that in!

But definitely, having two trainers did not help Nas, and to be honest he was never the same again having left Ingle. His style was so unconventional that I think it was hard for anyone else to tell him how to box. How do you give Nas instructions if you've never instructed anyone with that style! To be honest, the only trainer that could have trained him was Ingle, as the style he gets fighters to adopt if probably only really understood by him!

The most entertaining moment in Naz's career was getting his head slammed into the post by Barrera. That drew a world of laughter.

Yeah because you got everybody all over the world that get excited about a Barerra fight these days dont you

I know I just sound like an ignorant fan boy but Hamed under Ingle and training right makes Barerra look like a *****.
