The only one I didn't agree with in the last few years was Gatti/Ward III. I feel like that should have gone to Toney and Jirov because those were two very skilled fighters and they were just fighting on a much higher level in general. I'm realize that Gatti and Ward put on a great fight that year, but Jirov and Toney were several levels above the Gattis and Wards of their division. Not to mention that was one of the most grueling trench battles I have seen with a BRUTAL and priceless 12th round. It's not often you hear Manny Steward become THAT animated.

To some degree I think it has more to do with promoters protecting their fighters, they keep their fighters protected and hopefully undefeated for a couple of years waiting for that big matchup that brings in the money, whether he wins or looses the promoter will easily make close to 8 figures, and hopefully get a rematch out of it, milking it that for the eventual trilogy, after that if his fighter goes on victorious he goes on to fight more tomato cans until he gets another mega fight in a couple of year towards the end of his career. I don't think it's the fighters being cowards, I think it's their promoters protecting their investments.
