Why do you think Boxing is not Big anymore?

is there ever a big boxing meeting, like annualy, where the head of the
WBC, IBF, WBA, and WBO sit around a table and discuss what needs to be done as a TEAM to better the sport of boxing????
Obvisouly each of these boxing bodies is huge on its own and holds meetings within themselves, but do they ever come together for the sake of boxing??
please inform me.Comment

also, look at each bodies rankings, some of them are completely ******ed.
if they cant even agree on a rough top 50, how can they make fights.
boxings money driven, ufc will go down the pan too when it gets that way.
the cards will probably be reduced until its the same sort of size as a boxing event.
thats what i think anywayComment

well this is my WISH LIST for an improvement...
weight classes: 11 weight classes (pretty simple to keep track of)
100-110
111-120
121-130
131-140
141-150
151-160
161-170
171-180
181-190
191-200
201+
Keep only 2 belts (WBC, IBF) I say two because the unification idea kinda gives more flavor and drama to a World Champion. Plus, only one governing body cant have a monopoly on boxing and the belts, so the two can work together side by side. The casual fan will say he has the Green belt, or the Red one, and maybe both
In my opinion the WBC and IBF are currently the 2 most reputable and sought after belts so keep those and get rid of the rest.
With this system, you could NEVER have more than 22 World Champions, which is a reasonable number for boxing bodies to make money off of.
Compare this to the current 68 possible World Champions with 17 weight classes and 4 major belts.Last edited by VanesBoxing; 01-17-2007, 04:18 PM.Comment

Boxing was dying out long before MMA became big. It's just more noticable when you see the exposure UFC gets, it's like looking at what boxing used to be.
Boxing will always be big in the UK. Whenever a new promising fighter comes along the whole country gets behind them and watches their fights on TV all the time. That's the way its always been and always will be.
You get any charismatic heavyweight who can fluently talk English as a champion then boxing rates already rocket.Comment

ya thats an awesome idea! I love the weight classes and then a fighter should not be allowed to weigh more then lik 6 pounds the next day so fighters can fight in there true weight that will help prevent deaths.Comment
