Both Diamond and Augustus weighed 137 for their meeting.

A month before that fight, Augustus, weighing 140, gave Russel Stoner Jones a beating, and a couple of months or so before the Jones fight, Augustus put to rest a controversy spawned by an earlier loss to Courtney Burton by stopping Burton with a series of body shots in the 8th.

I don't know if a fighter can age so quickly in such a short time after a series of victories.

I can believe that a 2-day crash diet to make 137 after walking around carrying at least a dozen more pounds, can do the most harm to a fighter in Augustus' situation against Diamond.

But shan't any credit be given Diamond for the win? I didn't see the fight, but is it not at all possible that Diamond is just not good for Augustus?

Diamond showed a great left jab - that's about the only improvement he made. His sense of timing was awful...it was more of a case of Augustus being THAT bad.

Augustus threw very few shots. He was either depleted or is just aging quickly.

Either way, you're saying that Augustus couldn't hang at the top/top five/top ten of the division, which is all I was saying. He's overrated in that some people think he can, and all he needs is the shot.
At his best with a proper training camp I am sure Augustus could have given anyone a challenge but would rightfully be an underdog. Problem is, it may be too late for Augustus even with a full training camp to get the attention given the losses on his record.
