  • Kid Diamond Dominates Augustus in Win

Really like how Diamond fought today. He used his jab through out the fight, great jab. He knows distance, has a very good left right combo. I think Diamond can hang with anybody at lightweight and would be a war with either of the 3 Diazs and him and Chavez would also be a war. I think he'd have a better shot of beating Casamayor this time, i don't know if he'd want to fight Campbell again but I'd favor Diamond in the rematch. Very good fight for Diamond.

As for Augustus, im sorry but he needs to retire. Too many tough fights just caught up to him.

i dont think augustus should retire if he doesnt want to. He still has a lot left. But as for that title he was after, i really doubt its gonna come.

Augustus of 5 years ago stops that diamond within 10 rounds. That jab just wouldnt have landed and he would have countered a lot more effectively.

Its really upsetting for me as a HUGE fan of his for all these years, to say that Augustus can not hang in their with best of them anymore.

And he will retire without ever getting the oppurtunity to show his greatness on a big TV program, an oppurtunity he deserved so much for the shows he put on.

But, lets say that Some big name fighter gives Augustus a few months to train for the fight, i would want Augustus to take the fight. He may just be getting to old to take fights with younger guys on that short of notice. He may need a lot more time now. It may not just be dimished skills. but maybe thats just wishful thinking.

He took too many clean shots. I don't remember every seeing him get hit so clean for repeated times. And when you take those jabs so clean -though those were some great jabs by Diamond- then its time to add defence or retire. Diamond threw some killer combos, most all landed cleanly on Augustus. But yeah, him taking on short notice is really hurting his performance.

I belive imo, that Augustus has been on big time tv. Remember he was on Hbo against Mayweather a few years ago, and was consistantly on espn many times.

And i would like to see him retire. But you may be right. We'll see how he performs in his next fight.

Almazbek Raiymkulov just showed the world that he is a world class fighter that can go against the best of 135 and 142. Too bad for the fighter I rooted for, think it's time for him to retire.

I dont think that fight was a good way to judge his being ready for the upper stratosphere. He fought someone unable to throw half the punches he usually does, and even if Augustus could land his usual output, he doesnt have hurt in his punches.

Put Diamond in there with a boxer/puncher who actually has the energy to throw some leather, see if he survives, then tell me he's back.
