Sulaiman is on the spot again.
wlad will be smart if they fight but he takes ray austin about as seriously as tyson took buster douglas, and righfully so, this is a man who DREW against Owen Beck

in the case of unification, if austin is forced to fight for his ranking he would likely lose and a more deserving fighter would get the eventual mandatory shot against wlad.... wlad shouldnt be held to an austin fight either since he went out of his way to challenge calvin brock who is a considerably better fighter and who should have been mandatory

I'm not worried about Wlad taking on Austin, Wlad can make short work of the guy.

But I wanted to see how Peter is going to perform against Maskaev. Peter has improved a lot in his last fight so want to see if he's gonna be consistent.
Depending on how Peter will perform we can now have an idea if he is really ready to take on Wlad again.

The fight will not happen. The minute there is news that Peter will not get his shot, the he earned winning two mandatories in a row. There will be MULTIPLE lawsuits.

        A. Lawsuits by Don King/Ray Austin to force Klitschko bout or Klitschko is stripped.
        B. Lawsuits by Don King/Dino Duva/Samuel Peter to force Maskaev bout or Maskaev is stripped (very likely to win)
        C. Lawsuit by both Peter and Toney against the WBC for forcing them to hold a rematch that led to nothing.

In other words, all fighters involved would be in court for most of the year, wasting money on legal fees when they can just make their mandatories and move from there.

I'd say it's his pocket that is up for grabs

Do you think Maskaev has a chance?

Not if they pay off Don King.

A fight with Klitschko would be the best thing that could happen for Peter, he could make A LOT more $$$ for fighting a unified HW champ Klitschko than for fighting Maskaev. And that is pretty much guaranteed, since both champs are willing to fight the mandatory (Peter) next, as long as the unification is allowed. Add to that the intrigue of the rematch, Klitschko winning the UD but being knocked down three times in their last fight, Peter improving so much since that fight, Peter destroying the legend, etc., etc., etc., and you have one huge fight in the making there. I think Peter would only benefit from this.

You're right, only if Peter is looking at it as a one time deal (similarly to what Maskaev is dealing with)

Maskaev knows he will probably lose to both guys.... however, a unification fight with Klitschko will be A LOT more beneficial for him rather than fighting his mandatory on HBO.
No shame in seeing Maskaev trying to capitilize on the opportunity.

As psychopath mentions above.. if Peter beats Maskaev first, he would be geting a lot more money too.

Also where are the guarantees that Peter would even fight Klitschko if both have belts. I think that deep inside either mad does not want to face each other... Too high of a risk for both.

If Peter wins the title from Maskaev, he could be reigning for years and making $$$ and not risking of losing it in one night with Wlad... same goes for Wlad.

First, they don't need their promoter involved to sue and second, they cant pay enough to make three promoters sit back, especially King who has two of his fighters (Austin, Peter) lined up for mandatory bouts against the two remaining heavyweight champions that he does not control.

The only reason King bout half of Duva's company was to get a hold of Peter so he would have a lock on the mandatory challenger to Maskaev.

After Peter beats Maskaev, a Peter - Klitschko unification bout is better.

                      Good point...

Yet if the rules of WBC/IBF say it is OK to prioritize the unification over mandatory fights, then there would be no basis for the legal suit.
