Honestly, part of me almost thinks Briggs-Liakhovich was a fix. I mean, Briggs was scared of getting tired and Liakhovich seemed scared too........like both were afraid of the fight ending by accident.

I'd love to know if anyone actually bet on Shannon winning by a 12th round stoppage. The odds against that had to have been huge.
You know, you might have something there. I mean, it's a wonder how Liakhovich managed to give us the best HW title fight of the year and the worst HW title fight of the year all within 7 months.

naaa,,,he just caved into the pressure. as fighters tell you there's a ton more pressure defending your title for the first time than there is fighting for a title as you have nothing to lose at that point. plus serg was overrated imo. he was knocked out by mo harris and brewster came into there fight way too heavy and he was clearly slower than usual and just couldnt sustain a pace. also lets not forget brewster came within a hair of being stopped by kali meehan. brewster is not exactly a consistant guy himself

Well, Brewster might be inconsistant but Briggs is even more so, IMO. Yes, he performed well against the B level lately, but you can't honestly say that he fought a good fight with Sergei, there were rounds when he threw what, 15 punches? As for Liakhovich KOd by Harris, very few fighters can say that they never had a bad night. I mean, Lewis was KOd by Rahman, who never had one good fight before or after that and became the WBC champ on paper. Ruiz was defeated by some unknowns earlier in his career, Briggs was KOd early in his career by an unknown fighter, I'm just naming a few. So one loss, even to Harris, is not telling me much. But seeing THAT performance after an all-out war with Brewster is just beyond me. I'll bet you that Brewster hit Liakhovich with more shots (and more powerful as well) in that 7th round than Briggs did during the whole fight.
