Rahman was a better and more deserving champion.
It's because he looks like a Wrestler, man....or a comic book hero or villain. He's all flash, no substance; and I don't get the appeal either.

Id make Briggs only a slight favourite over Austin

To press Briggs' stamina less than Liakhovich, Ibragimov would have to do a no-show for the fight.

            Truer word were never spoken.

Honestly, part of me almost thinks Briggs-Liakhovich was a fix. I mean, Briggs was scared of getting tired and Liakhovich seemed scared too........like both were afraid of the fight ending by accident.

I'd love to know if anyone actually bet on Shannon winning by a 12th round stoppage. The odds against that had to have been huge.

i wont call it a fix sergei was afraid of what happen in the 12th, getting caught. Briggs is big boy and Sergeis defence does tend to get sloppy. even in his fight with Brewster, too many clean shots were landing on his head. And he needs to quit those lead rights to the body they leave him too open for counters.

I don't know. It was just such a screwed up fight. A last round knock-out for the man with no stamina agaisnt the man who took Brewster's best shots for 12 rounds.....and then to get knoced out of the ring ala Hasim Rahman.

....just too screwy for me to ignore completely.

Sergei was afraid of getting knocked out and Briggs was afraid of exhausting his feeble ****ty ass cardio.

The result was one of the worst fights I've seen in months, and without the knockout it would have been the worst fight in a long, long while. The only thing that kept my interest was a sadistic part of me that wanted to see Briggs get more and more exhausted until he finally just quit, or Sergei stopped him. It all backfired whe Briggs lashed out with whatever he had left in the tank and with a lot of luck managed to stop Sergei in the last few seconds.

I hope Ibragimov is getting ready to fight in a hostile evironment because MSG my guess will be a really pro-Briggs crowd.
