It looks like WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (28-0, 23 KOs) will take care of his mandatory obligation against long term mandatory challenger Otkay Urkal (38-3, 12 KOs) on March 3 in Puerto Rico before setting his sights on a June 9 showdown with current WBO titlist Antonio Margarito (34-4, 24 KOs) at Madison Square Garden. Top Rank is finalizing the March 3 event now.

I dont get the question when what you posted clearly says he is making his mandatory before facing Margarito on June 9

i thought i read somewhere that antonio had to fight his manatory williams before fighting cotto?
i don't blame margarito. the cotto fight is big money. and big statis. it wouldnt be worth the chance against williams who has neither.
but i'd love to see a margarito/williams just as much as a cotto/margarito.
still think cotto is slightly inflated with hype. but his team has brought him up perfectly.which has his fans going.
the fight against urkal will be no more than a sparring match for cotto.not even a stand up fight.and if cotto doesnt show up and takes him lightly.well...its in puerto rico.

yup this is what iam was trying to ask since their last fight were on the same date, theres no reason he cannot face his mandatory and then face cotto.

About this Cotto Vs Urkal.. Will this be televised on Showtime? Or should i switch to HBO.. Either one or the other.

Tony should fight Williams. If he doesn't then what ever. I have nothing more to say about tony.

I guess it's obvious that Margarito doesn't want to take extra risk that might derail his shot at the big fight. In short he's not confident that he can make it past Williams. Of course he won't admit it and his fans won't admit that but that the only logical reason and no matter what anybody says it's gonna come out as that.

But I'll tell you what, as I have already posted in another thread 2 gays ago, win or lose against Cotto if it's gonna happen, that Williams fight will haunt him until it eventually happens.
