Ray's prime was at 147, this is true; but at 160 he still did very well. For this fight, I'd take the Ray that was closest to his prime, which would be the one who stopped LaMotta in the St. Valentine's Day massacre.

If Roy foght Robinson as he did a green Hopkins, then he loses a decision, IMO.

Roy is perfectly capable of hurting Robinson as well.

For all of Robinson's power, it is not enough. Robinson could wear down Roy if he was a bigger man, but he is who he is. No one just goes in and hits Roy at will and lands so much leather that they wear him down and KO him. Rob will land his share but not enough to KO Roy. Not a middleweight Roy.

Rob may enough power to eventually stop Roy if he would be able to tag Roy with hard shots at a high clip, but that just wouldn't happen.

      I think it'd be a close fight.

The smart bet would be to choose roy jones jr. Ray was invincible at welterweight but at middleweight he was losing and it was to guys that roy would beat. Let's not forget the fact that roy is bigger than him too.

i agree with this... SRR fought joey maxim, the 175 champ and was handing him his ass until the heat overcame robinson. once or twice in that fight, maxim did hit robinson, and ray took his punches. true, roy jones is far supererior in talent to joey maxim, although maxim was no bum, he's considered an all time great fighter by many becasue of the opposition level he fought - archie moore, ray robinson, jersey joe walcott, ezzard charles, etc.

roy NEVER fought anyone as talented as robinson, he'd be scared of robinson's handspeed and reputation once they met in the ring. i don't see roy looking very spectactular in this fight. his lack of fundamentals would really hurt him against SRR. SRR outboxes RJJ to a decision, unless the heat catches up with him, maybe even stops roy late

To me boxers of the old days didn't have the combos boxers have now so with how Roy fires off his combos SSR get's caught and whatnot and loses by UD or maybe a later round stoppage

Roy had power, but would he actually **** with Robinson?

Would Robinson **** with Roy or would he out box him which Ray has the skills to do so. Roy is over rated and under rated at times, but this one he will lose to Ray.

I aggree with you and your previous post. Ray wins. I say he wins by decicions cause i belive Roy has good/great power. But everything Roy could do Ray could do. But Ray is more an aggressive fighter when he see an opening when Roy likes to play it safe. Ray wins.
