You guys really hate Rahman don't you? I'm not a fan of his boxing style but Mercer got knocked out by Shannon Briggs for christsake. Rahman will beat Mercer, and he'd beat Briggs too.

Mercer can punch, and harder now than ever because power is the last thing that goes. This was evidenced by the fact he was knocking guys out at his old age, in fact racking up highlight reel type 1 punch knockouts. He still has the power to compete with stationary heavyweights, and most if not all of them except Klitschko and Byrd are stationary. Toney the sleekest staionary exception but nobody is impossible to hit.

If a washed up Holyfied and Maskaev can impose their will upon Rahman, I don't see why a washed up big time puncher can't knock him out. Mercer hits harder than Holy and Maskaev, and Rahman isn't exactly the most mobile target. I don't think the fight goes to the cards considering both guys have suspect stamina to say the least, but I say it ends in a knockout.

It's almost a pickem fight considering both guys will never make a huge impact in the division outside of beating guys who are tailor made for them, one washed up and the other one really a never was outside of a lucky punch.

Power is the last thing to go but Mercer's conditioning, accuracy, and quickness have left him. Even his chin isn't what it was. Rahman still possesses all of these things save a good chin, and he's younger with less mileage on him.

I say he knocks Mercer out but we'll see.

I agree. I cant believe all the people picking mercer. rahman does pretty much suck but my god mercer is a shell of himself. Im not sure if rahman would beat briggs though. I think thats a 50/50 fight

Mercer still has most of his quickness, and no way would Rahman beat Briggs. like it or not Briggs is the only guy right now that would even have a chance agianst Klitschko.

Rahman will be downplayed by almost everyone after his fight vs Maskaev...I think Rahman will win but its a shame that a guy with all the physical tools cant do, he beat James Toney and lost to Maskaev...

BTW Hasim has a son who is a amatuer soon turning Pro, he is 19 I think and they say he has got better skills/power than his dad.

Rahman isn't awful, he's still a top 10 heavyweight in ability and talent, unlike Briggs, who's been knocking out stiffs for years until he hit the jackpot with an unprepared Sergei.

I will not give Briggs a shred of resepct until he beats another guy in the top ten. You don't win a fight you were losing in the last ten seconds after fighting (and losing to) journeymen for years and expect to be taken seriously.

Anyone who doesn't consider the possibility of the Lyahokavich win being a fluke (not saying it was for sure but it looks like it could have been) is biased.
