Eubank was not past it. When he was years younger he performed a lot worse than that in fights. Eubank was at his best, and fighting for dear life. The Michael Watson tragedy was not in his mind or anything like that.
But Joe looked thinner here, i cant believe he is still the same weight as that. Looks different as well. Young!Comment

I was at that fight. Eubank was a favourite of mine back then and I was pissed that he lost to a welsh guy!Comment

Eubank was far past his prime and nothing close to his best in that fight.Eubank was not past it. When he was years younger he performed a lot worse than that in fights. Eubank was at his best, and fighting for dear life. The Michael Watson tragedy was not in his mind or anything like that.

Taking nothing away from Joe, he put on a great preformance.
That was a hell of a fight.
People give alot of credit to Mexicans for being warriors, but IMO Brits are right up there in terms of heart.Comment

Do you think he was far past his prime? He was a young man. He had tough fights but it is subjective whether he was past his prime, and even if he was it cant be by much. Eubank has never said anything about himself being past his prime has he?
Look at guys like james toney. These guys with the tough chins like granite dont age as fast in my opinion.Last edited by hugh grant; 12-31-2006, 08:45 PM.Comment

For me this one is up there with the Judgement Day fight and his first fight with Thompson in terms of him being at his best post Watson Tragedy.
But Joe was great in this, 12 rounds of constant pressure (I thought Chris would win this as Chris eat up guys who fought like that). He’s a much better boxer today, but boy the guy had a ton of power in both fists.Comment
