I pointed out that MMA is already very technical. If you go back and watch UFC 1 the gulf in skills between now and then it is readily apparent.

However in another fifteen years the same won't be true because MMA is already very technical. There will be some evolution simply because things are always evolving. However when, in fifteen years, we look back at Fedor Emelianenko it will be like comparing Larry Holmes to Lennox Lewis. It won't be like looking back at Royce Gracie who was very one dimensional and quite clearly couldn't hang with the top guys of today.

Anybody who disputes the popularity of anything as it pertains to "White" needs to take a socio-economics class.

Yes, white people are the most powerful economic group in America. They have massive spending power. I wasn't dis*****g that.

My point was that boxing problems are nowhere near as simple no white fighters “owning it”. Boxing isn't dying. However it isn't a popular as it once was. Why is that? There are many reasons which are covered in a whole multitude of threads on this board.

Would a dominate white American heavyweight champion do boxing in America good? Yeah it would. A dominate heavyweight champion period would do boxing good. Would he be more popular if he was white? Yes. However a dominate heavyweight champion period would be very popular regardless of his race.

How do you explain Tyson?

Explaining Mike Tyson would be a whole book. I cited him because, I think, he proves that you can market a black fighter to white America and be phenomenally successful. He has to have star quality and that X factor but it can be done.

The UFC are great at hyping fights and fighters. For instance, the UFC's reality show is a thing of beauty. I don't mean that it's a great TV show. However, in the course of one season of twelve one hour episodes they are able to get over the personality of everyone in the house. In that respect they are brilliant. I remember Dave Meltzer, who's the number one guy who covers pro-wrestling, saying that they're better at that than the WWE at it.

It's not just on the reality show either. The UFC are very good at promoting fighters. Not just as guys who fight either. They are good at promoting fighters' personalties and stories.

The UFC PPVs do differing buy rates depending on what the main event is. People aren't just tuning in because they want to see carnage. People like UFC for a gambit of reasons. The main reason, I think, is they promote fights that people want to see with fighters they are interested in.

The crudeness of your argument in blending all the era's of the last 30 to 40 years is an insult to nature, humanity, and the sands of time. Each grain is unique and totally seperate...

Of course every era is different. If you told someone is the mid-sixties that now, in 2007, Ali would be one of America's most beloved figures they would think that you were crazy. Times change.

However some of the biggest super fights in the 70's like the Ali/Frazier clashes were fights between black guys. You could promote black fighters and still get white America's money then. I still think you can do that today.
