** British Boxers...why the lack of fights in the US?**

In the history of British boxing, fighting fellow Euro;s and over the hill americans have been the norm....and right now England has 2 of the top fighters in the World on their respective division, and it is like pulling teeth to try to get a great match up in the US with this guys....and I know you will say: Ricky is fighting in the US now" yes, after 41 fights with only 4 in the US before the Collazo fight...Joe C has not touch US ground for a fight in 42 fights....

Like it or not this trend dimish what ever possible glory they can grab in Europe to merley inunedos of "Ok great but can they win in the US" and in all honesty dimished their accomplishments...Lennox wsa the only Britsh boxer that I can recall that clearly understood the importance of fighting in the USA, hell the Klithsckos finally got it......and they came to the US to fight.....

All this home fight always leave the door open for expeculation, well homer ref's etc....if the lose in US, then well you see the competiton in Englad was not that tought, or you get them outof England and they are average at best...

And I know that Ricky and Joe C are the real thing...but it would be great if they solidify that greatness in the US...

The fact of the matter is that there is enough money in the UK to stage big fights. Why do Europeans have to be the ones who are expected to fight abroad? American fighters rarely use their passports, do they? Yet nobody seems to call them "homers".

I'll turn this around and say that Mayweather's lack of fights outside the US is as bad as Calzaghe's lack of fights in the US.

It also can't be Calzaghe's fault that he has mostly fought European fighters: The UK has had a thriving Suppermiddleweight scene, whilst the US hasn't had too many contenders worthy of a fight with Calzaghe.

Sorry to break this news to you but: The US is the mecca of entertainment, theres no doubt about that, you want to be big on something you come to the US...and in all honesty the fact that you made that comment, led me to beleive that maybe that;s the reason...pride.....sure Joe C is making enough money in UK and Europe but his pedigree has suffered for that, plus he could command far more if he would come to the US.....Ricky is stating to learned that, but his expiriience was almost ruined by Collazo...creating the inuendos reference to....

It was always a dream of Calzaghe's to fight in the US. But nobody would fight him, it's as simple as that.

Mind you, Calzaghe maybe should of just packed his bags and went to the US to fight.. but the case is that he was a world champion in his own right and didn't want to give up his world title unless he was guaranteed a fight against a top guy. That's basically it.

The US may be seen as the be all and end all for Puerto Ricans, but Germany and the UK are big places and have Boxing markets that are perfectly standalone. Of course Germany is even more crooked than the USA when it comes to Boxing, but they've had some successful fighters.

In an ideal world, boxers would fight around the globe. Unfortunately that isn't going to happen.
