The WBC has officially announced that due to the legal situation concerning the lawsuits flying around between Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank, for the right to promote Manny Pacquiao, they have officially suspended the purse bid date for a showdown between Marco Antonio Barrera and mandatory challenger Manny Pacquiao. This now opens the door for Barrera's plan B, a bout with Juan Manuel Marquez, also under the Golden Boy Promotions banner. Marquez would move up to the super featherweight division to make the fight. [details]

That is horse****! I bet GBPs payed Sulaiman off to suspend it (he's a corrupt mofo anyway). That way, they get to keep the title with Marco and still fight a good challenger who will make them tons of money without losing the strap to an Arum fighter if the courts side with Top Rank.
The promotional rights of the fighters do not matter when a fight goes to purse bid because they are bound to the promoter who wins the auction for that fight.
