You mean a year longer, if Wlad fights Maskaev in May, then the earliest Wlad will fight will be November or December 2007, Wlad does not fight 3 or 4 times a year.

The WBC really has no choice but to sanction this fight, it's whats right for boxing.

...Toney or Peter wouldn't be able to fight Maskaev until around April or may at the earliest. Wlad is fighting every 6 months or so. It would be a 5-6 month wait for them to face Wlad tops. Hell, they could work the timetable into an agreement to put off the mandatory. Anyone against unification has alterior motives IMO. They don't want to see Wlad with two belts.

...Of course it is, and I can't understand anyone being against this. Hell, even Bozo would be for this since he has been crying for unification forever.

it doesn't matter. Wlad is now heavyweight champion bound. Only a matter of time IMO.

If the WBC allow Maskaev to fight Wlad then they will probably get sued by the winner of Toney/Peter match! Like I said before, Maskaev is not the only belt holder, a unfication can always happen against Briggs and the Giant!

I don't think anyone is against unfication, it's just not fair for Toney or Peter. We can still have 2 unfication fights without Maskaev.

....Wlad is the true champ and he is the one that should be unifying. He will never fight Briggs or Valuev because King will want too much in return. Do you really give a **** about seeing Briggs and Valuev fight each other for their belts? I know I don't. If Toney or Peter is allowed to hold up unification then it's bad for boxing. Again, Wlad will not be fighting Valuev or Briggs unless King miraculously decides not to demand options.

Wlad will become a true champion when he owns more then 1 belt, beating Chris Byrd does not make you the true champ, actually Maskaev owns the real belt which was owned by Vitali the last real champion!

If boxing truly looked after itself you would be correct but if that were true, the sport wouldn't be in the mess it is now. Boxing too unorganized with too many parties fighting one another. The whole sport is just a tangle of conflicted interests with the promoters fighting one another and the alphabet organizations going at it as well. Boxing is just a mess and it isn't even the fighters' fault.
