I can tell you this much... here in Midtown Manhattan, the theater was pretty full and I went for a 1:40 showing (nothing like a get away from work) but the crowd was apploding and was pleased at the end..
Do u Americans normally applaud movies/boo and stuff? I heard american cinemas were wild, in da UK we just watch then leave quietly!

I thought the movie was pretty decent...though I can be a movie snob.

        Pro's:

Stallone does a better acting job than he does in the past. He plays the role with emotion and realism...Pauly is a hoot. Pretty decent acting all around.

        Nostalgic.

The fight is very realistic looking in the sense that it has a 'tale of the tape' and all the works (the Las Vegas sky line shot before all PPV's) etc. HBO basically dressed it up just like a regular fight...the time is even shown at the bottom during certain parts.

        CON'S :

Tarver looked like ****. His body was flab- for a heavyweight champion he was in horrible shape. To save it they made Jim Lampley give a line about Antonio's poor condition. Had to explain it. He packed on FAT not muscle for the role and I did not feel like he looked like the most imposing Rocky villian- despite being a real champion at the time it was filmed.

The fighting is as fake as ever. Heard about the realism? Nope. Wild punches, massive punishment endured...the ref never think about stopping the fight, etc. Not a movie for realistic boxing.

Overall this is a nostalgic goodbye to the Rocky series. Stallone hanging it up for good....maybe with his career, too (the coming Rambo aside). Decent movie worth paying to see if you liked the old Rocky movies.

Stallone really got to me in this movie i dont know but so many people loved it! it was a wednesday and the 450 seats was almost full at the 30 complex amc i went to.

everyone was hyped when they heard the musci and then people stayed till the end and they started clapping during the tarver fight!

everyone enjoyed it...and to be honest its so sentimental its a good final movie on a wonderful series that will never be forgotten...stallone really had me watery eyed...for those who have seen the movie its a great movie for all ages.

It was pretty good overall. I give it a B+. Stallone acted very well and the fight scenes were reminiscent of an HBO fight. The cameos helped and also the plot was more towards Sly's life than boxing.

He was actually in it quite a bit, at least more than I thought he would be. Hes a strange man but nice, although I'm not sure its a funny twist like you're thinking but I did see some humor in it.
The one who plays him was actually a real fighter, heres his record, I think this is it: http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=15808

Manny Stewart wasn't in it...He had better **** to be doing. lol. Really good movie in my opinion..great way to end the series. Not all that much action so if you don't like dramas don't watch it.
