I'm not saying he wouldn't, all I'm saying is that the deepest talent pool fights in the US because of the money. So ipso facto in order to fight the best fighters you will probably have to fight in America.

Please dont make out all fighters who dont fighting in America out to be super noble fighters who would fight in a parking lot. There businessmen just like everyone else. Hatton was able to entice Tzu to fight in the UK not because of Pride but becuase thats where the most money was. If someone else would've offered Tzu more money he would've fought them. Please keep this noble fantasy stuff in the JRR Tolkein forum.

Is it any wonder that the divisions dominated by Euros are considered some of the weakest in the sport? 140 is garbage since all the good fighters moved up. 175 is garbage that's being run by guys Roy Jones destroyed. HW is a joke...

Agreed! Heavyweight is at an all time low right now.
We need some tough SOB to come out and start to make some noise. I dont care where the hell he is from, but you bet your ass he will have to fight in the USA to become the next star!

Yes you're right but i am sick of hearing prople in the forum saying that the U.S are N°1.... I agree that the fights are good organised in the U.S but if the chalenger should be able to comme to a country to take the title from the champ

The United States of America is the mecca of boxing. The best fighters make their way here to fight and that's how it's always been.

Calzaghe can't dictate terms because all he does is sit in his backyard. Great Britain is not the mecca of boxing, and it's so far from it.

There's really no dis*****g that. Should Duran have fought every one of his fights in Panama? That would have been ridiculous.
But should that ALWAYS be the case? Should people on boxing forums in, say, a hundred years time, really be talking about a WORLD sport in terms of ONE country?

Joe Blow has fought only 17 times in Wales, and has travelled to Germany, amongst other places. The concept that he only fights in his own country is mythical.

So you're going to throw away an entire divison (Super Middleweight) then? Because there's not a single fighter currently working in America that's anything in the division.

You don't half talk ****, mate.

Actually, has anyone got the judge's cards on Tyson-Lewis, just out of interest?

I was thinking about this today, prompted by this thread. The first round was very close, ISTR, could have gone either way. I'm interested to see how it was scored. Like Big Len said about the Klitschko fight where it was stopped with Big Klit up 4-2, if that was in Britain it probably would have been 4-2 Big Len (I'm not sure about that, though). Can't fault Big Len for having the balls to take on the US judging system.

I thought of another (not really relevant, just discussing)... how many fights has Jeff Lacy lost?

Fighters want money. There is more of that stuff here than over there.

Backyard = Europe. Paris France, Manchester, Cardiff Wales. Wherever.

None of those locations are currently the meccas of boxing. I could overuse that term all day because it's just the fact.

LOL, I love that Europe is Joe's "backyard".

Anyway, I'll say it again cos we're not on the same page here at all: I'm not dis*****g the FACT (if it IS a fact) that all the money is in America. I'm not saying that AT ALL. I'm just saying that for a world sport to thrive and grow in the new century, should that ALWAYS be the case? Shouldn't that situation CHANGE for the sport to grow? I'm not arguing about facts, I'm talking about future intent.
