Exactly PoppaPump!!! Which shows how good Mosely was & how dominant he could've been at 35 had he stayed longer. I know making weight was killing at 35 & the bigger names were at 47 at the time.Comment

the one that is not offical is not considered if you say at 135 he lost to Castillo then De La Hayo lost many of his fights. what is important is the offical thing is what the judges think. and you keep forgetting the second fight too.
Floyd came in a time where he beat the best 135 guy outta there. the only person left there for Floyd was Casamayor and Frietas. Its not his fault that the competition was not up to standard is it?Comment

Mayweather was unstoppable at 135! Dominating any and all with power and speed the full package. When he made the jump to 140 he had a great fight with Demardus Corley and for the first time in his career seemed to get caught and stunned. Still overall he dominated Corley and dominated his other 2 fights brutalizing Gatti. 140 could be looked at as potentially his his best suited weight. think of the far superior match ups he could have had.Too bad for boxing fans if he continues to box with his current style of hit and run pot shot offense.
Hmmm. Here are a few names:
Joe Gans
Ad Wolgast
Benny Leonard
Tony Canzoneri
Hank Armstrong
Ike Williams
Roberto Duran
Julio Caesar Chavez
Pernell Whitaker
Oscar De La Hoya
Shane Mosley
...unstoppable. Yeah.Comment

i was replying at the name of the thread, that says "MAYWEATHER WAS UNSTOPPABLE AT 135", not saying castillo has the W, but that's because of crappy judging,ANYWAY, so boxistically fLOYD was "bested" by castillo in the first fight... at 135..., so he was not unstoppable...AT 135...
The fact that Floyd won(close but)clearly the second fight doesnt erase the fact that he lost the first fight...
ps I havent seen some de la hoya fights recently but his controversial fights:
trinidad
mosley2
quartey
sturm
whitaker
I think he only lost Sturm by close D...
Whitaker was close but i gave de la hoya the nod
Quartey I think was close but De la Hoya did enough
Mosley 2 and Trinidad he was robbedLast edited by -Hyperion-; 12-20-2006, 12:20 PM.Comment

Let me clarify... I did not mean dominant in a historic sense vs the performance of other great fighters at those particular weights. What I meant was in the here and now period, while he was fighting, and hypothetically he continued to fight at those weights in particular I think he showed the "potential to be the best he could have been at those weight classes. I will concede however 130 was also a great weight for him.
Castillo IMO won the first fight and for the first time you got the impression that Floyd's speed and skills could be handled. The real point of this thread is what a waste of greatness Floyd could have had if he had settled in and tried to unify and dominate instead of fighting mediocre fighters to gain titles up the chain.
