I'm not racist, I just don't like "thug" fighters.

Hitler has always been considered a genius. Not genius as in 160 IQ genius but a master manipulator and organizer. If you're saying you disagree with that, you just aren't very well educated. The guy was scum but he deserves respect and will always have respect as one of the most influential people in the history of the modern world. You seem to not even have a very good grasp of what the word respect even means, or how it's possible to respect someone for their skill and ability and yet still hate or dislike them personally.

Anyway, yes I do think you're a fool for bringing Kramer into this, calling me a racist because I admit to liking italian fighters, and continuing to insist that this is a racial thread when it isn't. If anything, this thread is an explanation for why there isn't any racism in my dislike of Toney, Mayweather, and Judah. These fighters strike me as ignorant, self absorbed, and extremely arrogant. That's it. If I were racist I wouldn't support Peter, Brewster, etc.

And just because someone doesn't like hip hop, thug, or whatever you want to call it culture, does not make them a racist. Thinking that gangsta rap is materialistic and objectifies women is not exactly a racist thought. I'm sure many black people would agree with me. Don't try to equate being "street" or listening to hip hop to being black. There are plenty of black people from foreign countries and even here in America that don't like hip hop, aren't super materialistic, and don't make it a point to be arrogant. There are millions of black men and women who listen to mozart and drink tea or who are doctors or professors, and they aren't any less "black" than 50 Cent.

There are also mexican, italian, french, british etc. guys who listen to rap music (I have no problem with that) and live by these materialistic values (that I do have a problem with). I am not a fan of the culture, regardless of the skin color of the people living it.

I think hip hop is great in that it's helped to bring the country together, but I don't agree with the materialism, gun violence, and objectifying of women that is promoted by many (not all) of these groups.
I must say, that was an EXCELLENT post. Very well put homie.

It really hate to do it but this really does seem race oriented. Naseem Hamed's lifestyle and what he has done is worse than PBF but no one called him a "THUG". Hamed is considered as a showman putting on a show, possibly arrogant and verbatious but not a thug.

PBF uses some of these showman tactics and he is considered a THUG

Funny thing is I didn't see Paulie Malignagi in Kid Achilles list of THUGS.

DLH pursued a career signing in a music Genre which was part of his culture while growing up but is not considered a THUG. If a black fighter pursued a career signing in a music Genre he enjoyed while growing up (Hip Hop or Rap) I'm sure Kid Achilles would instantaneously lable him a THUG.

Some of my favorite fighters, Sam Peter, Edison Miranda, Lamon Brewster, Danny Williams, etc are black but I just can't go for the thug thing. It's against almost everything I stand for to be so flashy and materialistic and to condone casual violence with guns.

This does not make me a racist. I just don't like that lifestlye/image.
Which explains exactly why you choose who you do to win matches. You just choose the guy facing the guy you don't like. Why should anyone take you seriously now? You should add "hope" to all your "predictions". You HOPE Peter beats Toney, etc. It makes sense now. Thanks for clearing it up. And when did Miranda not become a "thug" compared to the other fighters you listed, especially Toney? Talk about hypocritical. Do you even know what materialistic means? WTF are you talking about.. I don't even think you know

toney just likes to talk trash, mayweather actually believes the **** he says about himself. the thug **** does get a little boring, but we all know if they can't back it up in the ring they're just wankstas

I don't deem myself so high & mighty that I would judge another mans personal life, I don't know & haven't been through the **** you've been through that makes you do & say the things you do(& If I had been in your shoes I couldn't say I wouldn't be just as arrogant & straight-forward). The way i see it you could be the BIGGEST ******* ON THE PLANET, but if you own the ring once you step into it then I'll be a fan regardless cause I'm not better then you, so I don't see the point in judging you.

Has nothing to do with thinking I'm better than them, I just plain don't like their behavior or style.

In reality it's James Toney, PBF, etc. who think they're better than me and everyone else who struggles to pay the bills because they have money.

I don't like flashy or flambouyant boxers. I don't mind musicians or rockstars to be that way but not boxers. That's just my preference, and I don't give a **** if anyone agrees with it or not.

As for Nas, I never liked that little pipsqueak and was happy to see Barrera beat the **** out of him.

I dont not like modern hip-hop culture period.

I dont give a **** if the guy/girl is black, white, asian or marsian. It displays a lack of taste and no brains.

The problem with todays society is that hip-hop is associated with "African American" culture. Meaning that when someone says "I dont like hiphop" this defaults out to mean "I hate black people". Retarted aint it?

Hip-hop went from being a revolutionary music movement, from rappers who spoke of real struggles and real issues, besides just having casual pop lyrics to glorying bitches, guns, violence and oversized objects made of any of the metals in the periodic table.

Now why is the general public considering hip-hop, "black" cultre? And any person with black skin who does not fall into the category of listening to hip-hop is rediculed by the general population? Like Cosby.

What happend to the messege of Martin Luther King? What happend to Blues, Soul Funk, R&B and heck even good ol' Rock n' Roll? Why is that not black "culture". So quit with that bull**** that anyone who hates hiphop hates black people.

What does the hip-hop culture has to offer? Artists like K-Os get **** for critizing modern hip-hop. Why?

What good has it to offer? If anything it drivers the youth to attempt dealing drugs and try to land a record deal contract rapping about bitches and chains. And dont tell me it doesnt. I live dowtown Toronto (not exactly Detroit).

It's ****. It used to be great, and what is great about it now remains underground, because groups like "A tribe called quest" and "K-Os" just aint cool.

You like modern hip-hop? Fine, just dont get offended when someone hates on it, cause on a global scale its a laughing stock. Watching guys like LiL Wayne and that fat boy who raps "every day Im hustlin'" is pure ****ing comic relief. I have no reason to respect them. Because they dont have the inteligence to be worthy of respect, or the physical strength to claim any respect. This notion that you grew up in the hood= I am a hard mother ****er is funny. Just watch "hood" fights on you tube. Guys punch like blonde women in high stilletos. Besides having a gun doesnt exactly show strength. Because if it was the size of the gun it would be the rednecks and the Swiss who'd be the baddest mofos. As they have a rifle in every household for every member of the family and lots of ammunition.

Now just because a large part of North American, African-America population falls under that demographic does that make me racist? Because I dont like "hip-hop"? Whatever...Thats always what people point to. Man I dont give a **** what colour you are, if you happen to be wearing your pants on on your knees and glorify violence then its your fault. I dont like modern hip-hip culture.

I play music and I grew up on all kinds of music. Many of my musical idols are African-Americans. But I'm racist right?

Can I be friends with those type of people? No, I value different things, have different interests.

Now where is that Curtis Mayfield "SuperFly" soundtrack? Thats some good ****ign music.

And finally, anyone fans of new hip-hop? Tell me why should I bother with giving any respect to Loyd Banks, 50 cent, LiLWayne? Give me one reason.

i deal with lots of people like that on a daily basis, ******* stockbrokers who think they're better than me because they have a hummer and make more than 10 times what i earn in a year. the difference between me and those guys is that, if i stepped into a boxing ring with them i'd hand them their ass with my amatuer boxing skills - the stockbrokers, i mean. pbf or toney would school and humiliate me in the ring, so they get to talk ****

Great post, particulary this paragraph which is the root of the issue IMO. Hip hop is not synonomous with "black" anymore than Nascar racing and country music is the backbone of white America.

Floyd Mayweather, and Zab Judah both play up the hip hop thing and Toney often comes across as more ignorant and cruder than the two of them put together. I don't care what their skin color is, I don't like 'em.

As for Shannon Briggs, he did say some messed up **** to Sergei but had the class to take it back afterwords so he's okay to me. As a boxer, he still has **** for stamina however.
