Lacy... out for a year?

Lacy isn't brain dead, despite the beating Calzaghe gave him. Jeff knew he had to go into the Tyspko fight and really impress to get his career back on track. He was unable to- for whatever reason. He really let down quite a few people. He knows it- he could feel he almost got put down by Tyspko. What now? Taking an entire year off, and then having to try and recover from a surgery. Can further inactivity and doubt in a fighter who has already lost his confidence really be a good thing?
I call this the nail in the Lacy coffin.Comment

The look on Lacy's face after the first few rounds against Calzage said it allMaybe he just took in too much of the praise he was getting.
A guy like him can technicaly get quite far. He can take some shots, he is very strong, he can punch very hard. That alone can get you far.
However they made him to believe that he is the **** and just went in thinking guys are going to drop due to his presence alone.
They shoulda took it slow and refine his skills. But they didnt. And now he'll never beat an elite fighter like Larry said.
- he's supposed to be the guy who walks through everyone in the division, too strong & too powerful to deal with.
That's what everyone has been saying to him & about him over & over.
Then he comes in against a guy who is not only thrashing him, he's doing it almost contemptuously.
Will Lacy ever recover ?
- maybe not, but a year off might not be such a bad idea, injury or not, to take some of the pressure off.
If he does come back, if he's smart he'll do it with a different trainer.Comment

Yeah, well I realize Lacy has become the symbol of American arrogance, and cruidity. That last fight was further embarrasing.
Maybe that shoulder will provide a (not anymore) graceful departure for a guy who should have stayed on ESPN..Comment
