    Shannon Briggs 'Asthma'

I am SO ***** tired of hearing Shannon Briggs talk about his asthma. I never heard about this when he was fighting Lewis and Foreman, and now all the sudden he says the only reason he gives a bad performance is because he has asthma. Every single interview he has lately talks about his asthma problems. Can't he take a couple of shots from his asthma inhaler in his corner if it's that bad?

i think that you're right in calling that out, before you never heard anything about briggs' asthma, now it's all over the place.

i say bull****. i know/known plenty of athletes that have asthma and they trainned and prepared themselves with it and they did fine, they did what was neccessary to make sure that they didn't have an attack.

everyone gets temorary asthma attacks when working out hard, be it from running or any other kind of cardio.

back in the day to prevent athletes from getting "athletes asthma"(there is a technical term i just can't remeber it) they used to take Clembuterol*(spelling), which is used to help with breathing and prevents the minor attacks while preforming physical activities. also used in losing weight real fast, it's a respitory drug.

clembuterol is now illegal at least over the counter, you can get a doctor to prescirbe it, but it is a banned substance in sports mainly bodybuilding because clem is a extremely strong weight loss drug, it gets guys shredded fast.

they used to give it to trakc athletes because they would get the temp asthma more often then most.

but back to briggs, it's nothing but a cop out, he didn't even do anything inside the ring to get winded....................if he wants to blame anythim blame the weight trainning and the lack of cardio. there are ways to prepare yourself when you have asthma, there are tons of porfessional athletes that deal with it too and they don't use it as an excuse when it benefits them.

It's actually a little more serious than what you might think. There have been numerous anti-doping cases that have been initiated apparently from medication found in asthma inhalers. Not sure what the boxing commissions' rules are on these things, but it's true that some of the steroid formulations found in anti-asthma drugs could cause a positive drug test result.

But I really don't know what Briggs' situation is. If you ask me, I think it's just a copout myself...

It's the insane muscle mass that he has. It's simple physiology. He's never had good stamina, and with the added juiced-up muscle mass, it's even worse. So the excuse he thought up was asthma. Not a bad idea on his part, but very transparent.

I dont know if its asthma or not, but the guy throws 10 punches a round and is exhausted. There has to be something wrong with his breathing.

So ****ing what if he got asthma? What differences does it make?

Stop boxing if you are sick.

Next thing I know, guys are going to complain in NBA for being 5 foot 5.

                    I really dont get it.

                    how does it change anything?

If you are sick and you seriously suffer then dont do the sport.

                    Case closed.

So my advice to Briggs, STFU and keep fighting or get the hell out of the sport.
