The point is Kessler wants to fight Calzaghe but Calzaghe rather fight the guy from the TV reality show contender who was beaten by Alfonzo Gomez.

The reason Calzaghe wants to fight Manfredo first is to build more popularity. He's not very known in the United States right now, only serious boxing fans know who he is. The Contender was watched by millions of people and that means millions of people know who Manfredo is, meaning that many million will also know who Joe Calzaghe is once demolishes Manfredo.

Kessler is even lesser know to the public than Calzaghe, at least Calzaghe has 1 serious win in the casual fan's eye. Not saying Kesler or Calzaghe's wins over lesser known fighters weren't impressive, it's just you have to understand how the casual fan sees this ****. A guy they've never heard of is instantly labeled a bum because they take the backseat on "well if he was any good, I'd have heard about him".

Why does a great champ, ready to break the record of tittle defences, need to fight a guy like Manfredo for fame?

And Calzaghes first four could be described as past, who?, who? and past..

Because he is still pretty unkown in the U.S. Manfredo is very popular after the show. Plus, I think if Calzaghe ends up fighting Taylor it will make that fight even bigger in the US because it gets the Calzaghe who? out of the way.

I still can't stop laughing at how many Yankee Doodles suddenly want to see Joe Blow take on Kessler... he's the sort of guy Joe Blow's been spitting out his entire career, but then they were all "euro bums". Now the Blow's been arrested for **** (of Lacy) all of a sudden one of those "Euro bums" is a fight we all want to see.

If Kessler is so "right" for Calzaghe I find it strange he didn't take the chance to make boxing history and become the first boxer ever to unify SMW - now that a careerdefining fight if I ever saw one
