I don't really care for the UFC, but I do notice its emerging fast. Some fighters are amazingly skilled, I respect that talent. I myself would invest my time watching a good Boxing match, rather than a UFC three rounder that may end in a few seconds. Boxing's been recognized for centuries and is still around, I don't think its gonna go away at all. UFC is just a device to attract those who are looking for a new outlet of excitement. As for me I'll always stay true to the sweet science simply because I appreciate the finer points of smashing someones face in.

UFC to me looks like self defense classes that guys used to say was for girls!

its funny how now all of a sudden guys think its so bad ass.

before they would laugh at you for taking a jiu jitsu class for self defense.

When boxing loses it's popularity to the point where fighters are not making money unless they fight the best, then the quality of fights the public gets will improve and boxing's popularity will rise.

thats why they are implementing open scoring...so the guy who is losing in teh fight will go for a knockout...they believe it will bring more excitement to the fight.

but as you could see kassim ouma didnt even try to throw punches when he heard he was losing after the 8th round.

so i dont think open scoring will work...therefore boxing is dying slowly.

the only exciting guy you got is an unknown guy named manny pacquiao no one knows him besides boxing fans.

and the last draw is oscar dela hoya and once he is gone whats gonna happen?

Me and a pro fighter (boxing AND mma) from the gym were just talking about this. We both agree that the boxing fans who diss mma are idiots AND the mma guys who diss boxing are just as big idiots.

Speaking of fighters paydays, at least in Texas, BIGINNING mma guys usually make more than BEGINNING boxers. But as for prospects and big name guys, boxing pays better, hands down.

Holland is known for producing good kickboxers, some of whom transition into mma. There were two UK guys on Ultimate Fighter 4. Elvis Sinosic(sp) is a UFC vet and Australian. Of course it huge in Brazil.

WHY DOES EVERYONE CARE SO MUCH!!!!!!

The competition is HEALTHY for BOTH sports. Boxing will need to catch up to UFC by improving itself, Then in another decade or so, Boxing will be higher up and UFC will need to catch up.

It'll go like that until each sport is perfected. And u CANT complain about that!!!

ANd why are people concerned about boxing's future? When has a sport died out before???

And the majority of the guys on here are young 20's soooo.... boxing and UFC is going nowhere
