    Time To Make Cotto-Margarito

When he stepped through the ropes in Atlantic City, Antonio Margarito defeated Joshua Clottey in his usual style, through a grinding down process that wears an opponent out. It didn’t hurt that Clottey possibly broke his left hand in the fourth round, thus disabling his number one weapon. In the first four rounds, Clottey's left hook found its target on about every part of Margarito's body. Clottey shot three and four punch combinations, included the hook to the body, to the head and back to body. [details]

Cotto is an animal! It does not matter weather you love him or hate him-the key is that this guy is going to provide fight fans with a lot of joy in the coming years with ring battle after ring battle.

My only question is how long will he last we all know he is not a machine like the great JL Castillo right Baya!

you're finally seeing the light my friend. how about that castillo/cotto match up now @ 147 - you know its lights out for castillo if that happens - but it wouldn't mean much for cotto, as castillo's old and would be fighting at an abnormally high weight.

i'd like cotto a lot less if i saw that left killing castillo to the body. like you, i'd rather see that nasty left digging into margo's right side, we haven't had a quality win over a mexican in a prize fight in years it seems.

What? Castillo is still the man, he has alot of power, chin, and heart. Castillo could give hell to any of these fighters.

Never count Castillo out he is as tough as any fighter in the sport today, sure I dont advise him to make the jump from 135 to 147...especially with his fighting style but I would not be surpised if he beat Cotto at 147 and neither should you.

Castillo is still a threat. That man is a warrior.

As for Cotto Vs Margarito. This fight needs to happen. I hope it's official for June. Lets just see if Tony get's through Williams.

Margarito-Cotto is the fight to be made if Margarito fights and beats Williams, if Margarito lose the title for not fighting Williams Cotto should go for an unification bout maybe against Cintron...

What you have is Margarito, who starves himself for months on end to squeeze into a division he has no business in, against Cotto, who is finally at his proper weight 2 years after I thought he'd be here. In reality, this is a stylistic matchup, one guy with wide telegraphed shots he probably learned on the playground and another who is a skilled, decorated amateur with proficient technical skill. Margarito's weight-cutting measures leave him extremely vulnerable in the midsection, yet no one's gone in there because to do so, you have to step inside his shots. Cotto is the kind of counter-punching sharpshooter who can get inside of those haymakers and make him pay. It also doesn't hurt that Margarito fights in slow-motion for most of the time. I see this as a total wipeout, drastically changing the landscape at 147. This fight will finally make Cotto one of the preeminent crossover stars of the sport. Perfect opponent for the occassion.
