Kassim Ouma Wins by KO vs Jermain Taylor

Retired prize fighters Godfrey Nyakana and Justin Juuko believe Kassim Ouma can outwit Jermain Taylor.

“I can out rightly declare Ouma champion even before the first whistle,” Nyakana said recently.

Nyakana, a former Belgian, BENELUX and WBF light middleweight champion, strongly feels that Taylor is an over hyped champion.

“You only have to look at the opposition he has been facing. Most of them have been over the hill,” Nyakana insisted citing Taylor’s controversial draw with Winky Wright.

“It was clear that Taylor lost that fight, but boxing politics ruled it in his favour,” noted the boxer-turned politician.

Juuko is more cautious though also optimistic.

“All Ouma has to do is go past the first five rounds and the fight will be his.”

Juuko is a former Commonwealth, IBF International, WBC International and North American Federation super featherweight champion.

Juuko argues that the size disparity that many think will be Ouma’s undoing, could actually be the Ugandan’s point of strength.

“Taylor works extremely hard to shade from light heavy to middleweight. That’s weakening. So by the fifth round he should be tiring. That will be Ouma to dominate.”

Former world champion Ayub Kalule has his reservations.

Kalule who in 1978 became the first Ugandan to win a world title noted that an uphill task awaits Ouma.

“Ouma is a good stylish boxer. But when you get to weights like middle, you need power punches, which he lacks,” observed Kalule.

Kalule was Africa’s first amateur boxing world champion.

I don't think Ouma has any chance fo a KO and I do think Taylor wins BUT I think Jermain has to be careful. If he doesn't get Ouma out of there early then I think Ouma will win a lot of late rounds when Taylor tires and Ouma just keeps throwing. Jermain does tire on occasion and Ouma is a tough style matchup for anyone but I do think he's a little too small for 160. Should be interesting though if Jermain can't get an early KO or at least a huge lead
