To some ******s it seems anyone who didn't retire with the belt is a "bum". A bum is someone with no talent and/or skill and/or heart. However this thread was for talented "bums" meaning they had the capacity to win but either lost do to skill and/or lack of heart. To me this thread could've been better titled as Who was the biggest waste of talent.

I believe Cmacho Sr and Andrew Golota were probably the 2 biggest waste of talent that come to mind. Zab Juda is also going down a slippery slope but he is no bum and its yet to be seen what he will continue to do with his undeniable talent.

Another partial waste of skill not talent was James Toney. I know he is a HOF and I really like him but he could've been an all time great had he just had the discipline to keep his weight down.

I disaggree with almost everything you said.

Its tough for me to call any fighter a bum, takes brass balls to train and get into that squared ring.

And Camacho Sr and Golota for for the title a few times and made millions, i wouldn't call them waste of talents. If they were they wouldn't have been able to reach near the top as many times as they did. As for James Toney, you have to look at his career. After they ****ed him against Griffen, i think after that Toney just balloned up and down in weight. But, he was still active and winning. I don't think you can say he was a waste of skills when he's again fighting for another eliminator for the Heavywegiht title.

First off I didn't call anyone a bum I said waste of talent. Camacho Sr. never attained half of what his possible potential was do to partying and drugs. Camacho could've been 3 times the fighter he ended up as.

Golota is another one who had talent but just had meltdowns in big fights. And only achieved a fraction of the success he could've had otherwise.

Again I'm not debating that they weren't some what succesful but that they only achieved small fractions of the success they could've attained not because they lacked talent or skill but do to lack of heart, focus, mental toughness (call it what you will).

As far as Toney is concerned had he had the discipline to keep his weight down he was in an era of some truly remarkable middle/super middleweights. With his skill and talent he could've blazed a trail to ATG candidacy instead of just great.
