It wasn't that long ago that De La Hoya blitzed Mayorga!!! Therefore, i doubt his days have long passed. Many thought that De La Hoya had maybe carried on too long, and many thought that he would lose against Mayorga. I knew that he'd beat Mayorga as Mayorga was made for De La Hoya. Sure, he'll be 34 years of age by the time the Mayweather fight comes along but he'll still be a huge test for Mayweather. I think it would be foolish to doubt De La Hoya.

De La Hoya is just fighting for the money now as we all know and isn't going to be properly trained for this fight.

Note: I am neither a huge De La Hoya fan nor a Mayweather fan. Although I would prefer De La Hoya to win, I will be putting all my money on Mayweather.

If Floyd wants to go down in history as one of the best p4p, he should beat Hatton, Margarito, and Cotto, and then beat a middleweight champ. Until then he will not be in the ranks of Sugar Ray Leonard, etc.
DlH isnt at his best but i still think he has what it takes to give Mayweather a hard test becuase there are a lot of question marks over PBF. PBF hopes beating DLH will make him into some sort of boxing legend. No can do PBF. Dont try and fool us. People are intelligent and have sent men to the moon and found cures for diseases. We are not fooled that easily. I agree he has to beat people like Hatton, Cotto and a few others to convince me. Yep beating a prime and good middleweight champ would come in handy. Like SRL did against Hagler. Duran also beat a middleweight champ in Barkley, but i suppose Barkley werent all that good.

When DLH wins Floyd will just blame it on his right hand, saying he hurt it early on and wasnt able to fight as much as he wanted.

Ricardo Mayorga was a human punching bag for Felix Trinidad. A year & a half later, DeLaHoya gets the very same (actually, a lesser version) human punching bag......& people are using that as a gauge for how Oscar will look against the absolute finest technician in the game ? C'mon, now.
Oscar DeLaHoya is very troubled by slick fighters. Always has been. Now, he's about to face the slickest of the slick, & one who is in his prime (unlike Pea Whitaker). Oscar was getting schooled by Oba Carr, for Christ's sake- 8 years ago ! ! Has Oscar gotten better since then, or proven he can deal with a really sound boxer ? No, he hasn't.
Oscar is in for a very long, frustrating evening, guaranteed.

Hatton? Tell him to stop taking "tune ups" to "build his profile" and sign a contract.

Margarito? Why does beating a guy who's still struggling with prospects like Joshua Clottey add to your legacy? That's like asking DLH to fight Jose Antonio Rivera if he wants to be considered an all-time great.

Cotto? Arum won't put him anywhere near Floyd.

I know Floyd would have no problem at all fighting Hatton or Cotto because they're popular fighters who would bring in good money and Floyd would be a big favorite over either of them. Margarito is a nobody and fighting him would probably hurt Floyd's legacy because he won't get any credit for beating an overhyped, overrated fighter...

And you want him to go up to middleweight and beat Jermain Taylor? Honestly, I think it would be interesting because Jermain Taylor just flat out sucks but Taylor is just too damn big. It's one thing fighting DLH who started at a lower weight class at 154 compared to fighting Taylor at 160, a guy who is close to moving up to super middleweight. I guess dominating 5 divisions isn't enough for the haters anymore...

He is the same Oscar that destroyed a bull in Mayorga with accuracy and power shots and fought a very fast and hard hitting Mosley to a standstill.
I think that's good enough to warrant him having much more than just a chance.

Even if Oscar isn't at his best hes by far the biggest test for Floyd to date. Hopefully it will be an amazing fight.

Many are saying that same exact thing. I just hope then, that everyone gives Floyd full credit after he easily handles Oscar.

Even though id love to see Oscar win, i think Floyd will. Theres so many Floyd haters out there even if he does beat oscar people will jus say floyd ran and fought like he did against Baldomir..... Or Oscar isn't at his best. There will be thousands of excuses but at the end of the day i hope Floyd stands face to face and trades with Oscar like a man. If he does that and still wins or even KO's Oscar i will respect him far far more and it wont bother me how arrogant he is or how much he runs his mouth after that because he would have proven to me why people say hes the best P4P in the world.

I can't argue with that. Good man.
