I literally watch that fight 2times a week for the last year and a half to study it.cause to me that was his best performance ever. but I had tyson winning by only 4 rounds. if tyson would of slipped up alittle and tucker didn't start running then he coulda won.it was a high stamina fight with tons of action

yeah but the punch stats suggest that it was a much closer fight than people thought. the punch stats state that tyson only outlanded tucker by 40 punches . It was as close as the second holyfield lewis fight.

In all seriousness, it was a relatively close fight and it was the one fight that really showed how important Kevin Rooney was to Mike Tyson...another example would have been the Pinklon Thomas fight; but that's another thread.

Tony got off to a good start and was frustrating Mike with his movement, jab, uppercuts, clinching, and multiple hooks. Rooney got Mike to settle down after about 4 rounds and "box", just box Tony. The fight evolved into a very workman-like effort and Mike eventualy began to frustrate Tucker as Tony's activity level dropped. Mike won by about four rounds, give or take, because he won the rounds that he did by presenting a more dominant picture to the judges; he was controlling the tempo of the fight and putting Tucker on the defensive. If Tucker had been more mobile or smarter, who knows; but he didn't win.

Punch stats dont mean everything. Sometimes a guy just lands the more effective punches. Tyson's defence caused Tony Tucker a lot of problems. I didn't watch the fight a while ago, but i know about it. It was a close fight, but by the end, it was obvious who won. Tucker was trying to be cool and was showboating at the end, but got the worse of it. He really showed a good chin in that fight though.

And what's with people always talking about Tyson being stunned, out of his feet etc. In the first round, he caught Tyson with a fast good uppercut. And Tyson actually crouched when Tucker was throwing the punch, basicely going into the uppercut, Like his ko loss against Lewis. You're gonna feel that.
It got his attention, but he wasn't even hurt if you look closely. He came right back at TNT.

Punch stats dont nessacarily mean anything bud, plus look at Tysons punches next to Tuckers - far more hurtfull and he still outlanded him.

In a very weak HW era Toney Tucker for at least a few moments was a very underrated fighter and certainly a fighter that is overlooked when discussing Tyson's overall body of work.

i disagree punch stats mean a lot who ever lands the more punches wins the fight in my opinon and according to punch stats it was a very close fight.
