Here's some feedback I received from a Mr Jackson from Texas:

Hey man, great article! Like Cintron and Jermaine Taylor Lacy needs to seek out Manny Steward to train him. Dan Birmingham cannot take Lacy where he wants to go. Lacy is not Winky Wright, Lacy is more athletic and needs defensive and counterpunching skills to go with his athleticism! Birmingham ’s bread and butter is Winky Wright so every other fighter that Dan trains is going to be 2nd fiddle to the Winkster. Lacy needs a one-on-one trainer to work with him, and teach him new things. Roger Mayweather, Jeff Mayweather and/or Jesse Reid may also be good choices for Lacy who is IMO one fight away from another disaster. Lacy constantly got countered and hit by Tsypko’s right hook and never thought to raise his left hand up to cover his head while throwing his own right hand. For a 168lb fighter all of that heavy weight lifting is unnecessary, all Jeff needs is calisthenics and light weights for the upper body, the lower body could use some heavier weight lifting, but no squatting which puts pressure on the vertebrae in the lower back making the back tight. The weight lifting that Jeff is doing has taken away from the elasticity of his muscles making him very tight and stiff unable to move quickly a hittable target for his opponents. Also Jeff’s anaerobic conditioning is suspect because into the late rounds of a fight Jeff gets very tired and because of it his punches lack pop. Jeff needs to go back to the drawing board and get a fresh start if he wants to return to the limelight, because his apprenticeship is over and his fans have big expectations of him.

All that work might help, but it would still be a perilous road for Lacy to getting back to a title shot. There are a bunch of guys out there who would hand it to him, such as your boy Alan Green.

Who's alter ego are you? Lacy took mucho punishmente against Calzaghe and didn't quit when alot other fighters would do so. Point is, he's got alot of heart and should be respected as a figher.

Haha, yeah Allan Green would give him the business I think.

or freddie roach...lacy needs a great trainer to help him build back his confidence. lacy's problems are mental, he doesn't believe in himself anymore, roach or manny steward can take him back to the place he needs to be

also great article, asian, u're a talented writer, keep up the good work

              Thanks alot bro.

I don't even think Manny or Roach are what he needs. He needs someone like Teddy Atlas. BOOM!!!! You heard it here first, I dunno why I didn't think of that before. Atlas would be perfect for him, absolutely ****ing perfect. He knows boxing's mental game better than even Steward, and he's probably an even better trainer.

i'd already thought of that, but then i remebered atlas saying on tues night fights that he will NEVER train someone he thinks is mentally weak again after having to try and motivate moorer, tyhton, and dominck guinn.

steward would be perfect - he gave lennox lewis confidence in himself. freddie roach understands the mental game, too, i've read good things about him in this area

Yeah but at the end of the day you can only dress up a hooker so much, she's still gonna be a hoe. I don't think Lacy is mentally weak, I just think he's a guy who overestimated his power because he'd been knocking guys out who weren't much and is bitter about how quickly the press turned on him. He's still a skilled fighter with heart, but he's in a very rough patch right now. It's as if everything he'd ever been taught was a complete lie. He's just woken up from The Truman Show.

true... i think lacy could be better, though... think about this, what made micky wards left hook to the liver so good? it was because he believed in it. if lacy believed in himself again he'd fight better and have more heart - a supermiddlweigth lamon brewster

Truth is, Lacy doesn't believe in his punches as much as he used to. When he was punching with more conviction, he was dropping guys cuz he thought he was doing tremendous damage with every shot. Now, he's not sure if his punches are doing such devastation and he doesn't want to compromise his stamina as much, because really when you are that big it takes a lot out of you to throw with such intensity. He's a great talent, but he just needs to get in there with someone he can KO, like I said at the end of the piece.
