umm actually there's been a huge misconception on this board lately about p4p. it's not based on "you're only as good as your last fight" because unless you lose, who's to say you're even TRYING in your fights. take Roy for example. p4p #1 damn near a decade, despite fighting complete nobodies. you can't just lose p4p status unless you're defeated. that's why there's no point in all this Wright and Pacquiao and Taylor looking impressive talk HBO is spewing about. where were they when Roy was fighting tomato cans? No, p4p is the way it's been. Mayweather is #1 until he gets beat at which point Wright, if he's still winning, assumes the throne. you can't get elevated unless the guys in front of you are knocked off. but in the meantime, you build up a respectable resume. Hopkins wasn't even #1 after he beat Trinidad. he had to wait 3 more years til Roy got KO'ed.
