Why do they even bother anymore.. The HW should simply be changed to the Don King Divison.. no more pretense.. I am sure valuev will fight every single washed up DK stable boy.. I am surprised Golota hasn't been given another chance..

If this is true, my respect for the heavyweight division has just taken another blow. McCline has no business being in there with Valuev right now. This is a joke. The heavyweight division is KIng's cash cow, and that's it. It's just a moneymaking machine for him at this point and if something doesn't change, if we don't stand against this, it will continue this way for years. We need to boycott these kinds of fights and force King to risk his champions against appropriate challengers who've earned their shots.

What I don't get about DK is that, wouldn't he make more money if the titles were partially or fully unified? If a Briggs-Valuev fight were to happen the winner regardless of any outcome would still be a DK fighter.


Also, if this is true then everyone from boxingscene should email the WBA protesting them to allow this.

If the title are unified King puts all his eggs in one basket that will be ripe for the plucking. If Briggs and Valuev fought each other than Wlad would swoop in like a hawk and pick off the winner. King then no longer owns any part of the HW title. Instead of that scenario playing out, King can milk these belts for all their worth with weak title defenses. In the long run, he makes a lot more money with less risk.

is there a souce to confirm this? why would this fight happen? Im guessing so they can build it up as giant vs giant and it might be marketable to casual fans.

He is going to try to break Rockys record, its obvious now, he is gonna just keep taking these fights to pad his record. I think this is a step back from beating Barret.
