Basing your opinion in what ifs scenarios makes it doubtful. The only fact we have is that they both fought once at 147 against slick south paws, one of them had way bigger power than the other and we saw how they both came through and the outcome of their respective fights, nuff said...

Saying that, Cotto's size gives him an advantage over Hatton at 147 and he should be able to pick off at least 2 of the other 3 titlistsComment

To be fair Collazo is certainly a better, younger and hungrier fighter than Quintana. Collazo was a titlist and held a win over the (now) WBA Lightmiddleweight champion, Quintana just fought a vastly overrated Julio and wasn't slick enough to survive a Cotto body attack.

Cotto certainly has avfuture at 147 though, and has the height and reach to proper there, unlike Hatton. He'd tear through Margarito, that for sure.
At 147 Cotto beats Hatton, at 140 Hatton would have beaten Cotto.Comment

My Opinion on Cotto
Miguel Angel Cotto, the defintion of an up and coming fighter: This dude has all the makings to finish a legend in the boxing world, but... What will it take and who else will he have to beat to do this, that is the question? His last 2 fights have been exciting and have only added to his growing legacy, Carlos Quintana (23-1) was OVERHYPED and a Joel Julio win-bring-noise recipient thus he was diposed in 5, BE4 that there was the very underrated Paul Malig (21-1) who despite given Miguel a little trouble was broken yet greatful after he lost a 12 rd UD! Thus what does that future hold 4 Miguel Angel Cotto a possible fight with Ricky Hatton..? That would defintly be a PPV-Matchup that many BOXING FANS (not analysis) including myslef would think favored the younger Cotto! Theres also names like Margarito out there, Williams, Collazo, Baldomir, Judah, Cintron and more... The fact is the future though unwritten is rigth infront of Cotto and if he selects his path correctly he should GET HIS ASS WHOOPED VERY SOON< HIS DOWNED THE LOSERS MADE A BUZZ FOR HIMSELF AND EVEN CAPTURED A WELTERWEIGHT BELT IN THE CONFUSSION, BUT NOW THE COMPETITION HAS GOT THAT MUCH TOUGHER AND THE BIG BOYS OR NOW OUT TO PLAY! I THINK HIS NEXT FIGHT IF HE FOLLOWS SUIT MAYBE AGAINST ANOTHER YOUNG AND UP N COMER SUCH AS PAUL WILLIAMS< A FIGHT I SEE HIM LOSING AND GETTING KNOCKED THE **** OUT IN... OR MAYBE HE"LL GO AFTER A WILEY VET AND STAYIN TRUE TO HIS MOST RECENT FIGHT HE'LL GO AT ANOTHER SOUTHPAW IN SAY COLLAZO ANOTHER FIGHT I SEE HIM LOSEING AND MAYBE GETTING KNOCKED THE **** OUT IN, OR MAYBE HE WANTS THE UNHUMAN WBO CHAMP CROWNED THE MOST DUCKED FIGHTER BY HIS DYER YET INCREASING MEXICAN IMMAGRENT BUDDIES WHO SEEM TO NOT ONLY FLOOD THE STREETS OF LA BUT THIS BOARD, THAT WOULD BE A GOOD FIGHT HUH? TO OVERHYPED S.As SLUGGING IT OUT FOR BELTS THAT THEY CANT EVEN PRONOUNCE IN FULL! WOW THE POSSIBLITIES FOR COTTO ARE AMAZING AND YOU HEARD IT HERE 1ST ANYMOVE HEMAKES IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE MAYBE FATAL TO HIS JAW AND CAREER!Last edited by GreatestIam; 12-03-2006, 01:19 PM.Comment

Wow... I don't even know how to respond to this thread. Are you eith him or against him? Anyways, I think that the Quintana fight showed that he can go places. No matter what you say about Quintana (overhyped!!) he's a big southpaw, and that would make a tough fight for just about anyone.Comment

Cotto. Quintana is a bigger puncher and sits on his punches more than Collazo does. Look at there records and you'll see that Collazo has 13ko's to Quintana's 18KO's. Quintana also rocked Joel a few times in there fight and he couldn't floor Cotto.
Dont think because Collazo rocked Hatton that Collazo is a power puncher. There is nothing that Collazo does that is that much greater than Quintana.
Also the 2 most dangerous fighters for Cotto on that list of yours is Zab and PBF. Zab because he has legitamte KO power and PBF because Cotto just might not catch him all night.Comment

First off your ignorant because Cotto isn't Mexican so it wouldn't be "to S.As" slugging it out. Secondly your ******ed thinking Collazo can KO

You guys are forgetting somethnig when you say Cotto would beat Hatton.
Remember the Tszyu fight? Tszyu punches hard. A **** load of good that did him when he fought Hatton.
The trouble Hatton had with Collazo is handspeed and boxing ability. Yes, Collazo rocked Hatton. But Cotto isn't Collazo, and what you can see coming, you can smother.
Collazo is also a southpaw, Cotto is not (well, he can switch, but he generally isn't).
The fight would be close, less exciting than anticipated, and probably quite dirty. Hatton would come on early, Cotto starts sorta slow. In the middle rounds, Hatton would start to smother Cottos punches by staying VERY inside. Cotto works best at middle range - Hatton would take the fight deep in, headbutts, elbows, etc. Clinches when he wants to back out again. HAtton has good footwork as well, which would to an extent negate Cotto's ring generalship.
The middle rounds would favour Cotto, but not by alot. rounds 4 through 9 would be 4 -2 to Cotto, the first three going to HAtton.
Near the end of the fight, Hatton would come bakc on, and start landing hooks to the body. These rounds will be great, and they will be about even. IN the last round or the second last round, Hatton would get rocked badly, but live to get the UD nod from the judges.
so rounds 1-3 hatton
rounds 4-9 4 for cotto 2 for hatton making it
5-4
then the last three rounds 2 to hatton and one to Cotto.
7-5
115-113, Ud hatton, close but clear.
Who do you think you are ? Max kellerman ?
Your post is so very wrong.Comment
