Calzaghe's victory over Lacy looking HIGHLY OVERRATED right about now.

While I still think smacking ****less for every minute of every round is more impressive than making him look like a **** in a contest that's so close that Jeff winning isn't a COMPLETE robbery (just), it's a point. It's also a point that the Lacy that fought last night was clearly collapsing mentally, and was post-Calzaghe beating.


But let's just remember three things:


1. The person who made this thread was the person who wrote "Calf.aggy FEARS Lacy" (great intellectual insight, a real contribution to the forum) yet admitted they hadn't even watched a single Calzaghe fight.

2. I've seen no British member of this forum (apart from maybe JuyJuy, who doesn't count as he's autistic) say that the dismantling of Lacy makes Joe an all-time great. The only people who say that they do are bitter Americans attributing fictional opinions to attack another group of posters.

3. I saw NO British member of this forum EVER say Lacy was a great. He was ALWAYS - to objective eyes - a wide-open, misses badly, technically deficient and overhyped fighter who had never fought anyone worth a damn up to that point. The ONLY posters saying he was worth **** were Americans. But then, of course, it's IMPOSSIBLE for Americans not to be biased and blinkered when it comes to boxing, right?

It showed last night Lacy was nothing great so the Calzaghe win means little, and that to the British fight fan WAS THE GREATEST VICTORY for them. It's nothing and Vitali Tipsy proved it last night by winning that fight (cept he got robbed).

not the same. That was Morales at 135lbs and just a style nightmare.

as pointed out a couple of posts above you,we (the british fans) never once claimed it was joes greatest victory

the only reason the fight was hyped so much was because the american media had latched onto lacy as the next big thing
i knew joe would win........lacy was green in comparison to joe,and stood no chance
all joe did was show the world that lacy is a one dimentional fighter and put on a perfect example of how to beat him........
now you are just bitter and twisted by it all

In retrospect, yeah. But you have to look at it from the ********s perspective, Calzaghe was looking genuinely finished, really done. He was stale, and Kabary Salem had him out on his feet before he let the fight slip. It wasn't so much overrating Lacy for me as it was underrating Calzaghe.
