the funny thing is i basically explained those fights the way they are...with no bias. and everyone knows its true they just won't admit it.

The point was Smokin said DLH was protected and didn't fight anyone of note when that is just untrue. Won or lose he took all these guys on.

I was overexaggerating a little bit. But what about Karmazin/Winky at 154? I remember he dropped one of his belts because Karmazin was one of his mandatories. Perhaps he knew something we all didn't at the time???
And I also said he has been protecting himself the past few YEARS...like the past 2 years he has done **** all.

De La Hoya fought every possible challenge besides for Winky. What more do you want? You are making the Quartey fight sound like a robbery, which it was not. It was a close fight and De La Hoya pulled it out down the stretch. His corner failed him in the Tito fight. I understand he ran, but his corner was encouraging him to.
Oscar is a hall of famer. Could he have been an all time great? Yeah, I think so. He wasnt as active as he could have been. He might have wasted some of his prime years, and the Sturm and Hopkins fights were just a bad idea.

DLH is one of the few boxers really who gets that much overused statement to be the best you have to fight the best. Why don't you make out a more impessive fight schedule for him using boxers from that period, weight class. You cant! he fought the tough fights. On the subject of the Sturm fight, I got bored and downloaded the fight one night. Watched it a couple times and DLH ****in was obviously out of his weight class but he just outworked Sturm. I got no problem with that fight as a DLH decision or draw. You know if you dont like the guy fine but his accomplishments speak for themselves.

Originally posted by Smokin' View Posthe could of been great. i admire what he did with the moving up in weight classes but he is just plain overated. when he wins, he wins but the fight isn't exactly conclusive, and when he loses he gets schooled. he's plain overated and has been protecting himself against limited opposition for YEARS.
He has four losses, three of which are very debatable, and one is against a guy with a ridiculous size advantage.
