    Is George Foreman the biggest puncher in heavyweight all-time?

    I just saw his fights in espn's big fights last night and my oh my, he was really a monster, ko'ing frazier in 2 rds and norton in 2 rds also. And this makes me wonder, ali must have been really tough to survive the rounds w/ this guy..

    what do you think?

    I think Mike Tyson has the hardest punch because speed=power and Foreman didnt have much of that.

        People consider Marciano as on of the hardest hitting HW.

            Just come to think of it, Foreman was mostly an arm puncher, Tyson though a small HW puts his weight behind each punch plus the speed that makes for a devastating shot, like Rocky Marciano; Shavers puts his shoulders behind his shots.

              I think not by judging with my own two eyes, and if going by the quotes I have of Jimmy Young, Ken Norton, and Ron Lyle (who obviously all fought Foreman), I gather that they think not, as well...All three of them stated Shavers hit them the hardest out of anybody they ever fought, and although I don't have the quote in front of me, I do recall Ali saying the exact same thing. Larry Holmes is another heavyweight from that time who also has the opinion that Shavers hit him harder than anybody else.

              Quotes can be posted if asked.

                Well now that I think of it, I might as well just add them to the thread, so here they are;

                "Oooh man, that man is always with me. He hit so hard, the HARDEST. I still feel his punches today." - Jimmy Young in reference to Shavers (the emphasis on "HARDEST" is taken directly from the quote and is not my own doing)

                "Shavers hit me so hard it felt like needles were jabbing the back of my head. Without hesitation, Shavers was the hardest puncher I met." - Ron Lyle

                "Shavers. No question. At least with Foreman I was able to get up. When Shavers hit me I went down and stayed down." - Ken Norton, when asked the question as to who hit him the hardest

                "Earnie Shavers was indeed the hardest puncher I ever fought, because he hit me with a right hand that jarred my ancestors back in Africa, if you want to take a page out of Ali's book." - Larry Holmes

                    I'd probably favour Foreman in that matchup, but I fail to see the relevance of your question and how it deals with the discussion of the harder/hardest puncher.
