Thanks for that great post SinCity
It is very difficult to put a finger on the true causes of the negative father/son relationship in boxing and other sports. Many fighters' dads start off with good, protective intentions, but then their egos take over. They feel they're doing the best for their sons by acting as a filter between their sons and the business side and the training, but the sons feel overly controlled by some of those decisions and it's understandable.
I feel it's the egos on both sides that need to be kept in check, and that is not easy to do. There's always many different factors involved leading up to the parting of ways.
Perhaps, the father/son venture should be treated as a business partnership from the beginning, involving written contracts between both . Then, things may run smoother when both know where each stands in the deal, and what to expect.
I'm no expert in these matters, but some common sense goes a long way.
All in all, it makes for a great story line leading up to the main event, and will certainly add to the intrigue, and will pump up those ppv numbers.
Hopefully, it works out for the best on both sides.
