Yeah Floyd Sr did go to jail for drug trafficking. I remember in Countdown to Mayweather-Gatti, Floyd said that boxing wasn't something he wanted to right away, and said that his father would never really praise his skills and all.

Also of course Floyd said he used to fight just for money but now he truly loves the sport. I think he has changed some since the Gatti fight. He was angry coming into the Gatti fight I think.

So maybe little Floyd thought his Father was trying to be to controlling of his career and life after being released from prison so little Floyd got rid of him.

Nobody wants to be the "son" after they reach 18 and earn their own money.

Could it be that Flody Jr. was having more fun without his father?

Oscars dad is worse then floyd sr when it comes to discipline...oscars dad never praises him at all...oscar had every right to spite his father but he didnt...because he was mature enough to realize thats how his fatehr was and his dad just wanted the best for him.

to be honest this is childish and jeff mayweather is the voice of reason the guy is pretty reasonable with it he doesnt take sides and tells them both to stop this nonsense...it is nonsense because it all stemmed from money...floyd sr is his dad and he told floyd jr that james prince was a no good, and floyd jr gave that guy his money over his father...no matter what your still blood and thats your dad...i dont know what kinda relationships you guys had with your pops but im glad my folks play a strong part in my life up to this day! in my twenties!

It shows they are caring...their is a difference between controlling and looking out for someones own good.

Respect, Honor, and Loyalty are more important than blood

For Floyd, I am not exactly sure what the hell is the case...but my point was that Fathers can tend to want to stay in a position of "Power/Authority" over there son...this could cause conflict when the Son is the employer and the Father is the employee.

Floyd Sr. may have been looking out for Floyd Jr., and making sure that he becomes "Great", but how much breathing room was Floyd getting?

Yeah I saw that on Beyond the Glory: Oscar De La Hoya.....The first time his dad acted like a dad was after the Trinidad fight were he told his son not to worry that in his eyes he had won. His dads the reason Oscar was soo atached to his mom because she would confort him when all his dad wanted to do was work him and work him at the gym and training is all he knew.

again...floyd jr will realize what the truth is...his father was just looking out for him...i was like floyd i fougth with my parents! i was 19 and felt i was an adult and i yelled at them to tell them to stop controlling me...im 25 now and i realized and feel strange about those moments...now i enjoy having my folks more then ever!

its all about learning in life hopefully they could make good later on..its a true shame when families are torn apart by money.
