100,000 fans IN ATTENDANCE for a single FIGHT

I was just rewatching DANNY LOPEZ vs MIKE AYALA and during the fight the commentators say that for one of LOPEZ's opponents, in the opponents backyard, drew a crowd of more then 100,000 fans???

i know the 70's are considered the golden years for boxing, but ive never heard of that size of crowd, or even a stadium that could seat that many...

80,000 watched Benn and Bruno at Wembley. The general public loved them.

In the States, I don't think the general public cares so much about any of their boxers.

back in the 70s they wasnt attendance caps on arenas and stadias so ppl could sell has many tickets that would of been bought
for instance in a rugby league game in the 70s over 100,000 ppl watched bradford bulls at odsal but now they cant get over 25,000

what about ali vs frazier the thrilla in manila? how many watched that like 30 thousand right?

i hope floyd vs oscar gets to be in the la colisiem they can price the tickets at 15-20 bucks when it nears fight time just to fill up the top.

thats a good 90 thousand people.
