Thanks for the info. People still complain about the first Meldrick Taylor fight, it's TAYLOR'S fault for not responding to the referee. When you get knocked down, and make it to your feet, you have to respond to the referee. If you don't, you give the impression that you cannot fight any longer, and it doesnt matter how much time is left in the round/fight.Some of the Pinoys are making themselves look bad in this thread, because Chavez is even regarded by most boxing historians as one of the greatest fighters of all time. If some of the people in this thread actually knew anything about boxing from a pre-1995 stand point, they would know that Chavez has plenty of name fighters on his record, and many that he beat at the time that were being hyped up as the next big thing.
People can say Taylor was a bad decision all they want, but he gave Taylor such a bad beating in the fight that he crippled the rest of Taylor's career. At the time of the fight, Taylor was regarded in terms of skill like Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is regarded today. The fight was huge back then. They had over 400K pay-per-view buys, at a time when most homes did not even have cable.Comment
