Ruiz vs. Holyfield II fight

It was a terrible series of fights, but I think you're being a bit harsh on Holyfield, Ruiz just wouldn't let him get into any kind of rhythm. Ruiz won the first one, but Holyfield looked to have beat him in the third, he almost finished Ruiz off but couldn't quite manage it. Terrible fights though, I agree with that, as most people would.II is the only one of the series I didn't see...figures, looked like the best one.
The first fight ****** to high heaven and they robbed Ruiz blind. Holyfield looked like crap. The third fight wasn't much better; but I think the decision was probably right, although Ruiz could have got the "W".
Holy didn't deserve a win in any of those fights as he looked all of his 40 something years old. Hell, you'd a thought he was 50+ if you didn't know better.
Lousy series.Comment

If Holyfield had had anything left, John couldn't have stopped him, though I see your point. I've often said John was an "off-beat" fighter, which is the main reason he annoys me. Still, Holy didn't look impressive to me in either I or III and sure didn't looke impressive against Byrd, Toney, and Donald......nor his first comeback fight. I couldn't bother to see the Oquendo affair, for I knew he'd win against a carefully chosen opponent. It was a terrible series of fights, but I think you're being a bit harsh on Holyfield, Ruiz just wouldn't let him get into any kind of rhythm. Oquendo has always been a "timid fighter", meaning, not too aggressive. Holy can beat any fighter that fights that way. They knew it because I knew it....and they know far more than I. Oquendo was the perfect ranked opponent.Comment
