Macau was chosen for Valero because the US courts can't touch the place. If Pac was going to fight Guzman, you can bet it will be in Las Vegas.

The threat of a lawsuit between Golden Boy and Top rank complicates a Pac fight in the US, until after that court case is settled in a fashion that would augur well matchups such as Guzman-Pac and others in Vegas, et al. It is nearly certain that one of the two parties will ask the court to order Pacquiao not to ply his trade during the pendency of the case. In other words, no fights for Pacquiao on US soil while the court hears the case. Not one against Guzman or anyone else.
If it is not settled in some positive manner and in a timely way, Pac may have to do what Valero did and does...limit his engagements to places outside the US. That shall indeed be quite an issue not only for Pac, for boxing fans of all types in the US but also for boxing in general.
I fear that American audiences may have to settle with having to watch Pacquiao fight on PPV only, unless they shell out the cost of the trip to China or wherever else Pacquiao fights may have to take them.
Here's hoping therefore that the contractual dispute can be solved soon in a way that would not prevent ffrm happening those future matches that fans are clamoring for. Those fights should be allowed to happen in the places where and when fans (and not courts or promoters) want them to happen.Last edited by grayfist; 11-20-2006, 09:53 AM.

He was joking of course.
Pac still has some business at 130 to keep him gainfully occupied in the next couple of years or so. There's MABarrera, Valero, Guzman, Humberto Sotto, Juarez... the only issues are Arum and Oscar. Here's hoping they won't deprive fans of any of these possibilities.

Yup, I am not surprised that much concern is being given on the matter by people in the Philippines. It's a serious issue with serious conseqences.
Pac may be prevented by some court to ply his trade in the US during the pendency of the case. That could mean a year or so.

Let's cross our fingers that what he is saying is true about pac's contract with hoya being invalid as stipulated by rubber match contract that he should be first in line to negotiate. Arum is a very shrewd man. I won't be surprised If he screw pac to make more moolahs just like murad.
And, hope Pac does not get too screwed by Arum so as to be left with mere morsels.
