"The Mad Man" Scott Fitzgerald now the #1 prospect at Light Middleweight in the UK!

Outstanding performance from Scott Fitzgerald last night (30/03), totally outclassing Anthony Fowler in my opinion. It was a competitive fight from start to finish, but it was Scott's superior boxing ability that won it for him. Made Fowler look like a poor man's Carl Froch at times.

How quick the landscape has changed! Few months ago people were creaming their pants over Ted Cheeseman. Personally I'd only seen Fitzgerald on Boxrec and in a Boxing News article, never bothered to watch him fight and wasn't expecting much from him. I thought Cheeseman vs. Fowler was nailed on as a clash of unbeaten hypejobs.

Now I'd like to see either Fitzgerald vs. Cheeseman for the British, or Fitzgerald vs. Sergio Garcia for the European! Both would be good fights, especially Fitzgerald vs. Garcia would be a serious technical duel.

Anyone else blown away with just how good Scott Fitzgerald looked last night?

Like a bad hybrid of Froch & Cleverly.

I wasn't blown away by either. He'd absolutely beat Cheesemans ass though.

In the 9th round Fitzgerald looked like he was outclassed. He bounced back nice, but I think Fowler has more talent and can make necessary adjustments in a rematch. But that's just me

Fowler is proof people put way much stock into amateur records at times and how they can be misleading. I read all the time fans pointing to amateur records as proof a guy must have great technical ability.

200 amateur fights yet he's very stiff and looked rather inexperienced actually fighting in straight lines and loading up. Plodding in with no jab or head movement.

Well in the 9th round he did. I thought it was a close fight that could've went either way. Cong**** to Fitzgerald for grinding out the win but let's not pretend like he was schooling Fowler. If not for the KD he wouldn't have won

interesting side not , fitzgeralds father trained both as amateurs , fowler stopped fitzy in 2 in amateurs , but this is the first time fitzgerald looks like hes trained , and the name mad man fitzy says alot lol ... had 8/1 or +800 in the us on fitzgerald to win , also avenesayan was 12/1 +1200 last night , crazy odds

Mad Man Fitzy is still looking like the cream of the crop at 154 in the UK. Just beat Ted Cheeseman on the weekend for the British title without ever really getting out of first gear. Not long ago Cheeseman was getting hyped by Matchroom as some kind of Golovkin clone.

Would like to see Fitzgerald in a fan-friendly fight next, someone like Sam Eggington as the opponent. Either that or chase the European title and Sergio Garcia.
